What music do you listen to?

Kristen put out a nice topic on television shows, so I figured that I would dive into something that I know a little bit more about:

Various series of sounds arranged in such a way that it makes one's mind jump and shout in cheer.

Anywho, what kind of music do all of you listen to?

I stick to metal a lot of the time, but I also enjoy the sounds of Final Fantasy tunes and Folk Rock. Most of the stuff that I have is either underground (therefore very hard to get a hold of, and seldomly heard of except in their own respective base of operation), or not listened to because it's labeled "Christian", although not everything that I listen to is very "Christian" at all.

What do you listen to?

(If you want to here some of the weird and cheesy MiDi files I've composed, go to my site: http://demi_god_unicron.tripod.com , and let me know what you think of those! Thanks!)

Hi Celes,

checked your site, and had a listen, "Wierd and Cheesey" you say? Actually with better samples applied to the midi data, I don't think they'd sound too bad. :) A nice pipe organ, ("Native Instruments" do a cool one on one of their software synths I think), would make it sound kind of gothic horror. Thanks for the link. :)

Myself I'll listen to most things, I love rock like Led Zep and AC/DC, but also Join Mitchell, The Indigo Girls and, well, loads of other stuff!! (Not much pop though). I'd be here all day listing it, nice idea for a post though.

see ya, :)

I like all kinds of music (country, rock, classical, new wave, alternative, blues, jazz, folk, pop, etc.). If is has a good sound I can listen to it. As for rap, forget it.

I listen to all kinds of music, but lately I've been stuck in a rock/alternative groove. I don't have sound on this computer, so I keep my Walkman CD player here on the desk, along with a stack of CDs. My current selections are:

eMOTIVe and Mer de Noms, two albums by A Perfect Circle
Babylon, by Skindred (a punk/metal/reggae outfit out of Wales)
the self-titled album by Columbia-based Crossfade
the self-titled album by Audioslave

I like a lot of music but I dont buy by Genre.
Music compilations often are labeled Best of Heavy Metal etc...then they put Status Quo in there. That hardly heavy!
To list by Genre is too vague.

I listen to Katie Melua, Simon & Garfunkel, The Monkees, The Stones, The Beatles, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Genesis, Queen, Morrissey, American Hi-Fi, Scorpions, Yes, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Ten Years After, Pearl Jam, Phil Collins, Kylie, Michael Jackson to name but a few..............

In Genre, I dont like Mobo, Jazz, Garage or Opera.......
In the flesh I have seen Black Sabbath, Curved Air, Showwaddywaddy, ...and I had tickets for and didn't see Michael Jackson and Cliff Richard....
Then I guess at 52 yo I have experienced a wide range of styles. My favourite was the late sixties early seventies, my most bored period was the eighties (which I have said before).........

Does anybody remember these bands? Heavy Jelly, Spooky Tooth, Dr Strangely Strange, King Crimson, Frank Zappa...... they were all favourites at one time...........

Well since CJ posted a link to a topic about "music we like" that was started by me it is already known what I like..... and I read it and I still feel the same....

I like music that makes me feel good..... on any level... there are songs that make me think of my wife (that makes me happy and content), there are songs that make me think of my mother (she died in 1984) and I feel sad, but happy at the same time, there are songs that make me think of my youth (that gives me a warm feeling)..... there are songs that just make me happy and content..... Certain songs often remind me of a time or experience in life (often good, often horrible).... I can't hear the song "Holiday" by Rick Wright (solo album from Pink Floyd keyboard player) without hating a certain bitch in Germany (former girl friend).... I can't hear "My Last Two Weeks" by Peter Murphy without thinking of my mother.... What I am getting at is that Music is so important to my mind, memories and thoughts...... It just freezes points in my life.... and I love it

Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac (pre Stevie Nicks), Queen, Back Proch Mary, Rush, Ramones, Green Day, The Proclaimers, many others....

I like Ska, old Punk, Old Goth,,Blues and of course ABBA. I have just heard the saddest news. ABBA will never perform live, NEVER,,They say their fans will not enjoy the way ABBA is today. How could they do this to us.

Jazz and Blues for the most part-Duke, Basie, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman-jazz and not old pop swing.

Also rock ranging from Santana to Allmans and so forth

Classical-Sibelius, Stravinski, Resphegi-folks who write stuff and you wonder how they ever even imagined such a palette of sounds

A long time ago I used to play some jazz myself

I guess what I like is something with passion but not beat you over the head with it

Preferably 90's goth/industrial: Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Rammstein, Ikon of Coil, :wumpscut:, haujobb, Hocico, Thrill Kill Cult, Ministry, KMFDM, etc.; likes anything angry or angsty - punk, metal, glam, oldskool goth and industrial (I'm actually just starting to get into Bauhaus and Joy Division for the first time), even some of the old 60's rock like Jimi or Led Zeppelin.
