Am I the only fan of Troma on this board? Probably. Troma is the longest running independent film company of all time, 30 years. The company is run by Lloyd Kaufman, man is a genius. He created The Toxic Avenger, the first superhero of New Jeresey, and my favorite Superhero. SO if anyone else likes Troma movies, Letm e know! Here are my faves:

Well, I've been know to take a stroll through Tromaville, myself. Usually, when I'm on my way to hang out with Jay and Silent Bob at a Bruce Springsteen concert in Atlantic City.

Seriously, I haven't seen many of Kaufman's films, but I have seen The Toxic Avenger (the Director's Unrated Uncut Version on DVD--worth the price of admission for the director's tour of Troma Studios).

I'm more of a Brian Yuzna fan, in that genre. The Re-Animator and Beyond The Re-Animator are great (okay, so Casablanca and Citizen Kane they ain't, but still!).

Wow, I have been searching for someone else who even knows what Troma is! I have the Tox Box, love every film, and the Toxic Crusaders is awesome too! I swear I am the ONLY person in my school who even knows what Troma is, and when I introduced some of the films to my friends and family...they hated it, but who cares. Tour of Troma studios was pretty cool, did you take the T.I.T. Troma Intellegent Test? I did not do so bad on it.

Just for the record, I am a big Brian Yuzna fan. But Stuart Gordon did direct the original Re-Animator, ranks number 3 on my list. One of the greatest horror films of all time. Yuzna directed Bride Of Re-Animator, and Beyond Re-Animator, 2 other wonderful films. He directed one of my faves, The Dentist. No idea why but I LOVE that film. I am a big fan of the horror comedies.

I'll admit I didn't too well on the T.I.T. You know, although I liked the film, I'm just not enough of a fan of Troma Studios to go out hunting for their other offerings. These are the kinds of movies that aren't as much fun watching alone as they are with a few other like-minded friends. And that's just the problem; myself excluded, I don't know anyone who enjoys this kind of Z-grade, psychotronic fare. I guess I'm a bit of a dabbler... I don't really commit to a specific director or studio. But I do enjoy a wide variety of films in the "Horror Comedy" genre. For example:

- Almost anything by Sam Raimi, but especially Evil Dead 2;
- Peter Jackson's Bad Taste and Braindead;
- Larry Cohen's "It's Alive" series (okay, not intentionally comic, but still!);
- most films based on a Stephen King book or screenplay (notable exceptions: The Dead Zone, Misery, and The Shining)

To my mind, the best "Horror Comedy" ever lensed is still House, by Steve Miner. They threw everything in there... even the proverbial kitchen sink. It's a little gem.

It seems, Rachel, that our tastes are peculiar in more than just our clothing choices, eh?

Yes, our tastes in movies are very similar. I LOVE Dead Alive (aka Braindead) one of my all time favorites, I just watched it last night. Has wonderful gore in it. Bad Taste is great too, very funny film.Love when he pretends to shoot the alien and the alien pretends to be shot, lol. IMO, Peter Jackson's old movies are better than his new LOTR movies. Dont forget the Frighteners either, another good one.

I love the original Evil Dead, I did not think part 2 was nearly as good, Army Of Darkness was funny though. I have It's Alive on VHS, I wanna get the DVD, It Lives Again and Island Of It's Alive is on 1 DVD, gotta get that. I love Cohen's work, The Stuff was a great film, if you saw it. And so was Maniac Cop. I liked House also, but House II was too much...

If you have not seen Night Of The Demons, that is a great horror comedy, parts 1 and 2, 3 is okay. Nothing better than seeing a nun beat up zombies with baloons full of holy water.

Anyway, about Troma, I have no one to watch them with so I do watch them alone, but I do have one friends that hates them but actually watches them with me just to try them. I also wish I could find fans of this genre, but very hard to find.
