FlashChat

Post by GalicianGirl(SO) »

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a chance to drop in on our new Chat Room. :) This one seems to be going over a lot better then the old one that we had...

I'm sure there are still a few bugs to work out so please be patient.... [-o<

One problem I did notice was that I wasn't able to share files. I've tried to several times but kept running into a permission problem. I think the problem is finally fixed. Please try it out and let me know if it works...

I am not planning on doing much more to the appearance or workings of the Chat Room but if you are having any problems or if there is something that you don't like about it feel free to let me know.

Happy Chatting!!!

Hi all,

Sharon,

Maybe you can see if it's possible to extend the "time-out" period? Seems that, if we don't write anything for a minute or two, we get booted out of the chat (some members are calling this the "revolving door syndrome" ).

Anyway, great work, Sharon and Beauty! Thanks to the both of you. 8)

Love,
CJ

I was reading up on FlashChat to see if there was any type of fix for this. I checked the max time before it will actually log you out and it is set to 60 minutes. But I did find some reasons why this could happen:
The login expire is usually a user PC problem
like old version of Flash player
or old PC's with low speed CPU:s

Can also be a web server loaded too much
so responses to FlashChat refreshes are being too late

Just a little info.

I noticed that after a user has been in the chat room, and instead of closing the chat room box when leaving, instead closes the Internet window, the indication that the user is in the chat room remains on the main forum page.

Thus it appears someone is there when they aren't.

Hi Donna,

It takes 5 minutes to clear off of the main forum page when it says Who's In Chat (i can't remember the exact words) :)

I'm really impressed with a flash program like this. Good job.
I started off with nothing. I still have most of it.
