Website Statistics...

I was checking out the stats from the web hosting company and I went to the stats for the past 12 months page....
It says, this site has had
15,040,138 Hits in the last 12 months.... That is 15 MILLION....
can that be right???? That justs seems too high for me to believe....
What does a normal website get????

Hits include all images being transferred as well as pages. So yes, I believe it.

The company I use,
123Count, gives you several options for what will be counted as a “hit.” On one setting, the counter advances every time a person refreshes the page, or every time she or he goes to another page that is part of the same web presentation (such as different parts of this forum). On another setting, a “hit” blocks any further (counted) “hits” coming from the same IP address for two hours. Fifteen million would not be unimaginable if the setting is such that a typical visit generates multiple “hits.” If you are interested in the amount of usage, not the number of visits in the strictest sense, then the more liberal setting probably creates the better indicator.
