Oh yeah. This was a huge practice a little over a decade ago. If the wif did something wrong, the husband would lay her over his knee and spank her. Times have changed and now it's the women who spank men, but not in the same context.

I suppose any man that would feel this way about spanking women should have no objection to spanking monkeys - and would no doubt feel obliged to do so on a regular basis.

There is no way that behaviour or an attitude of this type should be tolerated, no matter which way it is directed.
No man or woman who thinks / behaves in this way should be tolerated in a modern society.
I think however it is naive to think that this attutude died out ten years ago.
I dont believe that any legislation will correct the problem either.

looking at the article one can see it was before zip codes so I'm thinking 1950's. the eyeglasses styles and hairdoos seem to match too.
