Past lives

Has anyone ever had an experience to do with past lives or reincarnation?

I have recently been alerted to the possibility that TG'd people have had many past lives as females and this time is the first as a male. The more I consider this the more possible it seems.

I will consult the right person to analise this theory and my past when the situation arises but until then would be most interested to hear of any of your experiences.

The older I get the more accepting I am to new ideas.

Jan, I want to congratulate you on your statement on the older you get the more accepting you are of new ideas!! If more people had that attitude would not htis world be a better place.
I have had a reoccurring - I don't know what to call it - dream, thought. feeling. I was killed in the Civil War. I was a young Union soilder and I fell back under a hugh oak tree. The sky was a beautiful clear blue with no clouds and I just lay there looking up at the sky with the warm sun shinning down on me - no pain and the last thought I had was "This is a beautiful day to die!"

Hi Jan,

I just wanted to say that whatever you beleive there is a fundemental flaw with reincarnation. That being, the population has doubled in the last 40 years. Meaning only half the current population could have a soul older than 40 years. And when you continue to break this down there is less than one chance in 6 of having a soul over 150 years. And the farther you go back, the more unlikely it becomes that you could have an old soul. Basically only a very small percentage of people could have a soul that has lived many lives.

Love always,
Elizabeth

I've been told that in a past life I was a Native American woman...

Hi all,

Human reincarnation? Hmmmm? Assuming that were true? How would that knowledge benefit us?

Love Darlene.

Mathematically a good point, Elizabeth. Many people who subscribe to the idea of reincarnation don't necessarily believe it to be species-restrictive, though. So, although it might be relatively unlikely that I was a human in, say, my most recent past life, that doesn't imply I mightn't have been a whale, a domesticated cat, or even a gnat (and statistics suggest that I would have been a gnat more likely than the other two). I believe the Buddha said "Rare is human birth". If I've been reincarnated, it's quite likely this is my first time as human. :)

Yours,
Celia

I do not wish to begin a religious dissertation, I am ONLY relating what I read in a book by (and I am not sure this is her exact name) Elizabeth Rice Burrows, but this was her treaty. That combined, our souls are an extension of God. She creates new souls as necessary and "implants" them into necessary creations. The souls "learn" with each life they are inserted into. The new born baby that dies to the 100+ year old are simply being educated. God's ultimate "plan" is that each time the soul "supports one of Her creations it learns and it carries that knowledge to the next time - and with each injection into humanity, it is suppose to get better and better, that is more loving and caring toward its fellow "souls." up until it, in God's definition, it gets it right. The soul is then taken unto God and does not have to come back and deal with all this s... anymore. Getting it right is evidently approaching perfection in loving, caring and taking care of our fellow travelers on this "veil of tears."
That is what I took from her book, so in difference to Elizabeth's mathematical progression which makes sense, it does leave out the fact that God has the ability to create as many souls as is necessary to meet the demand, if you will. Please, I am not arguing with you or your postion I am only relating what I took from the book.
I passed this book on to my Minister = father-in-law who conveniently lost it!!

Virginia

My personal intuition is that everything is identical to everything else; cats, atoms, humans, galaxies, trees, forests, universes, and the entirety of reality from end to end and start to finish - all are essentially the same thing, and it is just our limited human, 'conscious' perspective which keeps us from realizing this. I suppose that makes the idea of reincarnation a bit redundant to me. I think that TG/CD is caused by psychochemical reactions, like everything else about human behaviour.

I don't think people who've bought into the reincarnation idea will care about pesky things like fundemental mathematical flaws. However for those of us where supporting evidence is a top priority, I'd suggest the believers present some for us to examine.

Have a great day.

That's true! If you remember on the TV show 'Married With Children' Buck the dog (a bearded collie) was reincarnated as their new dog Lucky (a cocker spaniel!)

Despite efforts to gain memories of past lives, I have never had even the slightest inkling of any.

I have an open mind, but my inner intuition is that, for me anyway, literal reincarnation is not the case. I tend to see reincarnation and karma more as metaphors for certain psychological, spiritual and metaphysical processes. For example, my crossdressing may indeed be due to "karma" and material attachment. But the karma is something I create anew each moment.

Still, we can learn a lot even from a metaphor, so let us pursue it. Reincarnation is part of the "Wheel of Life." It chains us to a futile cycle of maya, samsara, futility, unhappiness--call it what you will. One should not really think about reincarnation without thinking about the utlimate aim of liberation.

Our situation, then, raises good questions like:
  • * Is our crossdressing something that merely perpetuates the cycle of illusion, or can it assist with our liberation?

    * Were we bad men last time, and sent here as 'women' as punishment/correction?

    * Were we women last time and unable to let go of something? What?

    * Were we women, and is our situation here actually a step forward?

Perhaps I took a leap of faith here, but I presumed she meant human females. I also did not intend to infer that there was a shortage of souls. Only old souls that have lived previous lives.

My apologies for not stating it was a flaw in human reincarnation, but we were talking about living past lives as females, not plants or insects or animals. I was only pointing out that there is a probablistic problem with living past lives. I hope this clears up any confusion about what I meant.

Love always,

Let's bear in mind that absence of proof doesn't amount to proof of absence. 8)

Let's bear in mind that absence of proof doesn't amount to proof of absence.

Let also bear in mind that lack of proof of absence, does nothing towards explaining its usefulness.
