This is warning to all people who are going to see Sin City. It is a VERY VERY viloent movie. While artist in still I just want to give this warning to all those who plan on seeing it. This is the first movie where I felt sick watching it but I could not turn away as it was also intersting. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FOR ANY ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

This is my opinion but I just wanted to pass this along.

Jessie, this movie is rated "R" for a reason. Theatres are under obligation to check ID. Parents should never let their kids view "R" rated movies, not just this one.

Alexandra, I adgree but in reality that does not always happen and sometimes people take there kids to R rated movies that. I do want to be preachy or anything I just was trying to express my self about this movie. I would like add while it was increadbly viloent it is also realy good as well.

Now you've got me very curious Jessie!

But I'll wait for DVD as I always do.

(Actually this film has been written up as one doomed to box office failure as the filmmakers broke quite a bit of Hollywood "rules" -- like black and white photography, too much narratation, two directors, too violent, etc, etc, to be a blockbuster, but it looks like its on its way to a lot of dough making!)

There is also another thing about this film that I won't mention unless Jessie asks because I don't want to send the thread to Mordor!

Actually they broke anouther hollywood no no there is actually 3 directers on this movie. Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino as a(special guest director).

It will more than likley do alright at the box office for an R rated film of this type.

Hi all,

I'm curious. In the past, I've played a video game by the same name. Is this film based on that game? Or is it totally unrelated?

As far as violent movies go, the only film I ever saw that made me squirm is a Japanese crime flick called Ichi the Killer. I caught it at the annual FantAsia film fest a couple of years ago. It was violent in its graphic depiction of brutality, in its attitude towards women, and in its disregard for the integrity of the human body. I walked out of there feeling positively shell-shocked (I'm not sure that wasn't the intention of the producers and director of the film). And I'm speaking as a fan of horror flicks, here. Be warned.

Anyone who is even slightly familiar with the original graphic novels (Sin City) wouldn't be shocked. I personally am way more desensitized than Jessie, and there were a couple scenes that made even me flinch a bit. But that's the point: blood, mayhem, corruption, vengeance, more blood, and blurring the line between good and evil to the point of nonexistence. Content considerations aside, this is a beautifully shot film, whose neo-noir style and 'splash of red' colour scheme perfectly suits the comics. Also, I find it interesting, how much more 'empowered' the prostitutes of Sin City are compared to real-life prostitutes. But, I agree, I certainly wouldn't let my kids watch this 'till they're at least 16.

CJ, I think you are thinking of "Sim City" a video game put out by Maxies "Sin City" is based on a dark graphic novel written by Frank Miller.

Violet, I agree with you about the movie visual it is stunning. I will say that I thought I could handle anything but there where just some scenes I was just not ready for.

I have to say the one scene of humor where the guy is shoot thre the stoumach with an arrow and he is still alive is the funnest most obsered scene I have scene in a movie.

Hi all,

Thanks, Jessie. I found the game; it was called, simply, Sin--a futuristic "noir-like" FPS.

I really liked Sin City for the same reasons Violet mentioned. It was just shot so wonderfully. I spoke with several people who read the comic books and they said they'd never seen a movie so true to an author's vision of his/her work.

I did see people who took their children leave in the middle of the movie and at the end. I don't think they should have stayed past the second scene. :-k
