I just came back from a midnight showing of Episode III - it was GREAT!!!
I highly recommend going to see this movie - even if you're not a big Star Wars fan. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time seeing how Darth Vader eventually came to be. But that's all I'm saying!
I haven't waited in a long line to see a Star Wars movie since 1977, and I don't intend to do it this time, either. I'll bide my time as the fanatical repeat viewers succumb to sleep deprivation, theater "food", and general exhaustion (it might nonetheless be quite a few weeks - I'm patient); then I'll stroll into the theater and watch the show in comfort. It's the only way to fly.
My son went last night. haven't talked to him about it yet. My wife was pregnant with him in 1977 when we went to see Star Wars, and I think he was affected
I went last night to the midnight showing and Agree with Lorna. It is the best of the newest 3 episodes. I waited in line for about half an hour before going into the theater then had to wait anouter 2 hours before the movie started. It is a really cool experience seeing it in the theater with tones of people.
Yesterday was my birthday so my friend gave me a call & said that he had a few tickets for the midnight showing. Strangely enough he didn't even have to wait to purchase them!! Anyway he bought the tickets at a smaller theater about 20 minutes away from where I live.
The theater was not not as crowded as I had anticipated (mostly college kids) the seat rows did not offer much legroom at all & the theater was a little hot...
Aside from that, no problems!! No lines, no waiting, no geeks in Star Wars costumes!! I am definitely going to see it again after a few weeks.
Unless you get real lucky like we did, I'd recommend you do what Celia suggested: wait a couple of weeks until the major hype cools down a bit.
Oh neat, I have seen the commercials but didn't realize it was out already. I have seen part one but not part two, do you have to see part two to keep up with part three?

What cave have you been living in!!??!!??? (just kidding)
It helps to have seen the first two, but you can probably get by if you have seen the first one.
I saw a 10 am show on Thursday. Since then, I've been working out exactly how I feel about the film. The visuals are great, and the action scenes are exciting, but once again, the writing seems a little flat. Lucas is a great visionary, but he can't write a romantic scene to save his life (Remember the scene of Han Solo going into the carbonite pit in "Empire"? The whole '"I love you." "I know."' exchange was improvised, because Ford and Fisher thought '"I love you." "I love you, too"' was a little flat. Too bad the prequel actors didn't have as much leeway with their dialogue.
