Feeling Special

Hi girls,

Recently my son did a large project that I helped him put into a folder right brefore he turned it. I did not look through it as he "ignited the midnight petrollium" getting it done. So yesterday I asked him what grade he got on it, and could I see it.

He said it was in his backpack and he retrieved it for me. On the first page as I opened it at the top in handwriting, obviously teachers notes, it said "Be sure to show your dad the piece you wrote about him. I'm sure he will enjoy it."

With his permission I am sharing it with all of you. This is what my 13 year old son wrote.
Elizabeth's son wrote:

The Person Who Has Had the Greatest Impact on my Life

The person who has had the greatest impact on my life is for sure my father. The advice he has given me is unbelievably accurate. Everything he has taught me has considerably payed off. Life is hard sometimes, but the discipline I have is on high terms. If there was a way to repay him, everything would be perfect. Nothing is perfect and there is no known way to repay him but I am glad I learned what I did. No one can ask for a better person then my dad. I am glad to have my dad.
I know that our children all need our approval and support, but it sure feels nice to have thier approval and support also. I can not tell you how this made me feel other than to say I feel as though being straight forward and honest with my children is the only way to go. I am glad he is my son, and indeed he has made a tremendous impact on my life.

Love always,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Lately I've been crying a bit more about things (don't know why) and that one sure was a tear jerker. I think it's so wonderful that your son wrote that. It's more beautiful and loving than words can ever say.

Please tell him we think his father is just as cool as he does, will ya'? Tell him I also think he's a great son for being so wise at a young age.

Thank you for sharing that with us Elizabeth, it was priceless.

Elizabeth, You have had that kind of impact on your son and I would have expected nothing less. I know that I told my son once following a similar episode that the repayment would, for me, to simply live his life has I had tried to teach him; that as parents is our reward.
Congratulations on giving the world a great kid!

THAT is a wonderful story!
Thanks for sharing it!

Your son has a level of maturity that most 13 year olds I see do not.
What a special twosome you must be!

That was cool, and so close to Father's Day as well. I hope to have that same relationship and impact on my little ones.
