Well maybe I am getting to carried away with the fluf of the web site, but I was wishing we had a gallery of neat Avatars for users to pick from. I have searched all over the web and haven't found any that seem appropiate for us.
Have any of you seen a good set of avatars?
Just wondering, also see my post in the Under Construction topic about the new smiles.... pretty cool...

ahem, I have a set of rupaul .gifs that I resized for avatars that are pretty cool, but I did take them from his website and lord knows what the legal implications of that might be. I have a big collection of other avatars I've made over the years but few are suitable for this site.
what do you have in mind? cartoons? flowers? dresses on manniquins? perhaps you can find a site with public domain images, pick out the ones you like, crop and size to fit the format here and make your own gallery collection. If you need help with that, perhaps I can lend a hand.
perhaps members just need help with their own photos?

Well Alexandra, I am not really sure what I have in mind. I think cartoons type drawings are cool.... maybe some picture type things are good too...
I kinda of doubt Rupaul would sue over "borrowing" his picture....
If you can direct me to a site I will look at the Rupaul avatars. Have you seen any cartoon ones you wouldn't mind having attached to you?
Thanks for the input.

hey, some cool avatars are starting to surface in this forum. if anybody wants to swipe any of mine, just "right click" the avatar and click on "save as" then save it in your "my pictures" folders. from there you can upload it to this forum by clicking on the "profile" button on the top of this page and follow instructions under "avatar". the best thing about existing avatars is that they're all the right size and you won't get an error message.

A website that has lots of avatars is
[url]
www.gamespy.com/avatars/
They have a large number of avatars.
Their FAQ is at the following URL:
[url]
http://www.forumplanet.com/gamespy/topi ... 900327&p=1
They have over 10,000 total and over 3000 female ones.
I hope this is useful information.

When I read an old post on how easy it is to set up an Avatar I just had to try it out. Believe me if I could do it anyone can! Only thing is now I need to find a picture of me smiling

I'm glad to see that older threads are being read.
Now I have more incentive to learn and use makeup well enough to break out the digicam (and NOT damage the lens

) to replace my jade bead avatar with a picture of me!
I think that will be a New Years resolution. My "inner girl" has only been awake for a year and a half after a 33 year slumber, so I feel Jadeanne is taking slow but steady steps.

Jadeanne, good for you! It's time we all did just a little bit more about stepping just a little bit more out that door. Besides when I read your posts I just as soon see you and think of you as you are and not a cold green stone. I did not post a picture of my self with out giving it a lot of thought as I am no spring good looken chick anymore but this is who I am and this is the way I like to be so best I stick it out there for all to see.
I am also working on a better pic of my self but this time with a smile.

Here Carol Ann is one of the posts I read
Jadeanne wrote:Janyne,
In the context of this thread, an avtar is a small picture that appears on the left side of a post, below the poster's name.
Some details on avatars are on the bottom of your profile page.
I got my avatar of a green jade bead by doing a Google image search of small graphics on the keyword jade
After I found one I liked (70 by 70 pixels, the maximum allowed), I right clicked on it and saved it on the hard drive of my PC.
Once I had it saved , I went to my forum profile and uploaded it, so now it appears below my screen name for all of my posts.
I hope this is clear and you are computer savvy enough to search for an avatar of your own. If you need some help, please post your questions and I will do my best to guide you through it.

O.K. Jadeanne here is what I've got. A Kodak CD with the photo. Now do I save the picture to my harddrive as a file then upload it? HOW? Sorry I can do wonders on my PC but this one has me stumped
