Today, while I was taking care of the lady - I take care of, her husband, a very successful attorney, told me to keep the laundry room door shut as there was a varment running loose in there. Chipmonk, ground squirrel, gopher whatever! We were kidding about it as one of his four cats had a perch on the dryer, fat, well fed, warm. "What? me exert effort to chase some little furry creature, for what end??" said Rusty the cat! I asked if there was a bounty on the little forest creature! $1.00 dead or alive!!
Well came the time I had to go in the laundry room for something and a dash of brown scurries across the counter under the non-interested gaze of Rusty and into a basket of freshly dried clothes. Sticking out from under a warm wash cloth was this little brown furry tail! Gently I grab the cloth and worked my other hand up the furry body so as not to hurt "Chip" or "Dale" whichever one it was. The little bast... bit my thumb. Fortunately his little jowls were so full of cat food he could not open it very wide without lossing all the bounty he had stored there, but it did bring blood - I crushed him like an overripe banana
- GOD!JUST KIDDING!!! CHILL OUT - GIRLS!
I did however tramatize him by carrying him over and putting him fact to face with Rusty and asking Rusty if he even knew who or what this little creature was?? The cat gave no expression of interest at all, but looked at me as if to say, "get that thing out of my face!"
Carried the little thing outside and (a) drop-kicked it into the next zip code
(b) threw it to the other three outside cats (c) released it, but not before it bite me again! - ungreatful little fur ball!!!! Just kidding, again, it did not bite me. It did scurry off into the woods, jowls still full of cat food!
I wrote out a bill of service" for the attorney. $1.00 for varment removal and $250.00 for injuries sustained in the process - he got quite a kick out of that.
I kinda thinkthe chipmonk will be back, plenty of food, nice warm SAFE place to sleep.
NO end to the excitement in my life!
