X-Men III

Post by Danielle La Belle »

I was watching a little television, X-Men movie I, and they came on with a brief 5 minute preview of the new release of X-Men now in theaters.

Not one to really watch much television, my interest was stirred as the preview began and each time I heard there was an inference to the people considered mutants, I substituted the word "transgendered."

Let me tell you, it was just down right scary. Halley Berry as one of the stars was protesting the idea that there was now a "pill" that could correct for the mutant [X] gene. Oh my God. As I listened to her tell how there was no need for the "pill," that was because there was nothing wrong with the mutants. They are just different, not defective.

Girls, you need to see this movie I suppose and then substitute "transgendered" everytime a remark is made about the "mutants." It is really remarkable as this movie is so specific in nature that with the substitution, you will be amazed at the resultant observations you can make.

I was doing that the other night when we went to see it. There's also a reference to the "slippery slope" .

Slippery Slope indeed Donna. "Better to rid the planet of them all, least they might breed and find a home in your neighborhood."

How often has that been said about so many other cultural points.

I wish I'd read this before going to see the movie, Danielle. But I have the first movie on DVD. I'll have to watch and substitute. What a great idea!

Thanks and hugs,
Kyra
