Hi All,

As another stage in my journey to femininity, I have taken some photos of myself, and chosen one for an avatar for this forum. The original was fairly decent, but a lot of pixillation takes place in reducing it the 90 pixel square permitted here.

At any rate, you will have a vague idea of what Lydia looks like.

Thanks all for your kind words about my picture.

It was done with the minimum of makeup - just lipstick. Thereby hangs a tale of frustration.

Foundation is easy to apply, but hard to choose the right color. Concealer is not a problem for me, since my beard is sparse and light. Eyebrows are a problem. If I didn't trim with scissors, they'd be in competition with Andy Rooney's bushy brows. I think that just a careful application of eyebrow pencil would help.

Eye makeup is a real problem for me. Mascara is useless, since my lashes are miniscule. To apply shadow or liner, you have to see what you are doing. Without my glasses, I can hardly see my eyes at close range. How can you paint your eyelids with glasses on?

I read some instructions on the application of false eyelashes. Not for me. I'd end up jamming the adhesive into my pupils and attaching the lashes to my ample nose.

I know that some of you girls get professional makeovers. I admire that. I wouldn't have the courage to go to a beauty emporium for a makeup in either gender.

I do makeup well with Paint Brush Pro or Photoshop. You probably can't see it in the thumbnail, but I nicely removed my adam's apple and some jowls with the use of the "clone brush."

Hon you really look great and I wouldn't lie to ya. Patience is the word no PRATICE would be more correct. Look I am still working with eye liner and my wife laughs at me and saids I look like I have been in a fight. But that's ok trile and errow how else is a girl gonna learn. Look think about teenagers and how they pratice at their makeup, come on girl you can do it . I think you are real speical and you have to stop putting yourself down. Come on girl put a smile on your face put that makeup on and if it's wrong just laugh and say "silly" and try again. Carol Ann

If you're not wearing much make up in your avatar you don't need it. You look fine. You don't want to put too much on or you'll end up looking like me. A streetwalker! It does come in handy though. I can pick up a few fast bucks when I want to fill my tank! Hey ladies. Where else can you make 50 bucks in one minute! Hugs

I've been meaning to compliment you on your avatar, and I hestitate to do it in another thread. You know:"Love that avatar, you look so right!" and months later, the person has a picture of Scooby-do in there instead.
(Well, maybe not on THIS forum, but you get the point.)

Anyway, I'm glad you put your new avatar up; helps me to get to know Lydia. You do look good, and I know all about those reductions in size. I've had to discard some really nice pictures because they couldn't resolve at that size.

Watch out for those scissors, hon. I trim mine that way, too, but I'm thinking there's got to be a better way. Plucking I haven't tried, and I may have to do it. I look MUCH better with dark eyebrows, which I used to have on my own. Now they've gone blonde, and for some reason, I can't darken them as a guy any more, without starting to look artificial, or maybe I look too femme that way. My hair is still dark, but not my eyebrows. It's frustrating that my gal self gets to have nice-looking eyebrows, (with the help of that pencil), and my day-to-day appearance is like a day old baby; no eyebrows at all. Oh well.

If you don't ask the ggs, I will. How does anyone do this? One of my eyes is a lot harder to apply eyeliner on, because my close focus is not as good. Women who wear strong glasses just stop applying makeup? I don't think so, but how do you get around that?

They're fun to wear sometimes, but they're also over the top, in my opinion. Some nights I look really good with them, from the front. But a side shot of my looks like I'm wearing wings over my eyelids.

I do know exactly what you mean as I'm very near-sighted, and without my glasses *everything* is drastically out of focus - anything beyond 6" from my face, that is! So, what do I do? Take off my glasses, get right up in front of the mirror, and then apply the mascara, eye liner, and eye shadow, etc. I prefer using the full-length wall mirror as opposed to the vanity mirror because I can stand upright comfortably and not twist my back while leaning over a counter.

An alternative to that is to buy the flip-down magnifying glasses specifically for makeup application. I know I've seen them in a few stores, but especially in catalogs like Harriet Carter and others. If I can find a link for them, I'll either edit this post or make a new post in this thread.
