Bragging Rights

Post by Carol Ann »

OK girls lets hear how great your bar-b-q was over the 4th?.
I had to break out the old gas pit clean all the wasp out of it and fire it up. No I don't use it at all because I prefer my old fashion 10 year old charcold pit.
In short I was useing two pits at once because there was so much stuff to prepare. Now my wife even trusted me to do baby back ribs, along with brocks, chicken, and hotdogs for the kiddies. Now over on the gas pit side there was fresh picked corn on the cob along with sweet potatoes and baked beans.
Hay I didn't screw any of it up and everyone was happy =D> , so what I'm saying is "I done good". OK who done better? tell us your story. (--) Carol Ann

I didn't even try to cook. Drove home from visiting my mother over the weekend. 5½ hours.

Truck has no AC, so wasn't wanting to mess with a grill. Plus it poured rain. And my wife has been working the midnight shift, so, when she woke up, we went out to eat. Mexican. :P

Baby Back Ribs???? Didn't Human Services have something to say about Child Abuse??? :P

Sounds like lots of food. Ours was considerably less. All I had to do was start the fire, the guys took care of the cooking while consuming beer. Tasted alright anyway. Kabob chicken and beef, potato salad, etc. Too much food, but good, and good friends.

Love, Carolynn

Also had ribs. Basted with a mixture of orange juice, maple syrup, and soysauce - with garlic and a dose of Chinese Five Spices. Paired with yellow Florida corn on the cob. Washed down with a robust Spanish red wine.

Hey Carol,

I do have to confess that although propane grills are quicker & easier to use, I like the taste from a charcoal grill much better.

As for a BBQ on the 4th? Well.... I went to Genifer Teal's house for a BBQ on the 3rd if that counts... 8-[ Because on the 4th, she and I along with a bunch of our friends were partying it up on Fire Island!! ***------- \:D/

Out to a cookout!

Post by Jeannie »

I had to cook for the kids and Mini on the 3rd but saturday I went with two GG friends to a cookout in Clinton.CT. I made some sausage, potatoes and peppers . It was like animal farm. The hosts have 8 goats, ducks, a parrot, dogs and cats. They were cooking a whole pig over a 55 gallon drum from 2 in the morning.
When they cut the pig up the mans girlfriend put the head on the platter with garnishes and wanted everyone to kiss the pigs nose before we got any pork. I passed on the pork! Hope you all had a great holiday.Hugs

PS. Lorna. The real reason I didn't eat the pork was I just couldn't kiss the pigs nose. It reminded me of an old girlfriend! What was I thinking!

My 4th weekend turned out to be a good one, took 5 days off from work. I had time to accomplish some much needed boat work (I've been very lax with the boat work of late) before I had to clean up the yard for the big day. Cut the grass and set up the badmiton net, horseshoes, etc. Set up the BBQ to cook ribs and burgers and plenty of ice for the coolers. I arranged the lawn chairs, sat my butt down and waited for the hole Famn-Damily to arive around noon. The day was hot and the favorite spot was in under the trees. The kids provided us all with plenty of entertainment, watching them playing badmiton (terribly I might add) and tripping over one another. This was one of the best family gatherings we have had in a long time.

Hi Rose,
I'm so happy you had time to enjoy the 4th and be with family. Hay now you shouldn't laugh at kids when they are having fun, remember you were one once. =D> Carol Ann

I thought that would give me the right to laugh at the kids, since I have been there myself. I remember the simple joys of playing these games, too bad we have to grow up. It's a lot of fun trying to keep up with these teen-agers, but I don't stretch quite as well these days and that sudden impact with the lawn is not quite the same fun as it might have been in the past.

Do remember in high school Lorna there were always some of the kids that were grown ups? They knew exactly what they wanted and what career path they would take and the rest of us would look at them and say"What the F---"
They went on to be Lawyers and Doctors and now are on their third or fourth spouses and their lives are a mess. It's funny. I have a friend from high school who is a PHD and a psycologist and wears womens clothes under his suit! It's a pisser. If any of us thinks were special or better than anyone else I'm here to tell you you're not! We are all people. That's it. Enjoy the ride and don't be so freaking serious! You're in that box a long time. Lorna. You freaking kill me Hon! I love it!Hugs Beautiful!

Jeannie

PS. Lorna. You should run for president. That would be a killer Inaugaral Ball! All the other countries in the world would love us!
