Back from the Caribbean

Hi all,

Back from 10 days in Martinique and Guadeloupe. Delightful islands, and friendly people - if you can speak a bit of French. Surprisingly, very few speak or understand ANY English - even among the hotel employees. So I don't recommend going there unless you know at least a little French. Mine is very lame and out of practice, but they were very patient with lousy grammar.

Great place for water sports - and fishing! Mixture of French and Creole cuisine is marvelous. French wines are reasonably priced.

I did not dress at all, but ogled the bikini clad young ladies -- with much envy, I must admit.

Good to be home.

Hugs,

Lydia

Hi Lydia-
Welcome back! I envy you being able to travel, but hopefully I'll be able to do more of it the coming years. My French is non-existent, so I would end up doing a lot of wig-wag hand signals if I were to head down Caribbean way.

I know what you mean the other kind of envy--referring to bikini-clad girls on the beach. A friend and I went to the Cal-Stanford football game two weeks ago, and I hadn't been around that many college-age women in a long time. Still can't handle hip-hugger jeans very well; like spandex, they only look good on about one in ten girls, to me.
