Melt down on Christmas day

Post by Penni SO »

:) Merry Christmas to all,

Well Christmas day at our house was Brunch,22 of my family came, the night before my children decorated out back yard with tinsel, coloured lights, streamers etc.

Well christmas day arrived,it was hot from the start and reached a sweltering 37 degree's,so we all huddled inside with the aircon on.
Marie and my daughters boyfriend cooked the seafood, pancakes, eggs and bacon outside. We had cooked the turkey the day before thankgoodness. The day was fab despite the heat, however my auntie from England was desperately missing home....after all they have snow.

Penni SO,
I know what you are saying as all the years I lived in New Orleans we always had the A/C on at Christmas.
Now I have an answer for you and your family, come live by me in SE Missouri as it was 19 F Christmas. Now don't forget to bring your heavy coat and mittens.

:) Hi ya Carol Ann,

Darling don't tempt me.....this whole week the temps here are going to range from 37 to 39 and in Western Australia ...that means HOT,HOT..
Going outside is a chore and going to the beach well you can only go early in the morning and late in the evening.
So you start huffing and blowing girl and send us some chilling wind.

Christmas day was a very different affair for me this year. Instead of attending the HUGE family breakfast, I went to my daughters house with her boyfriend and my flatmate on Christmas eve, drank plenty and crashed the night.

In the morning we didn't bother changing out of our pj's (my daughter thought that my pink panther pj's were slightly comical!) and handed presents out amoungst ourselves. Beth, my daughter, was most impressed with the collection of Kryolan makeup that I had bought her. I guess sometimes there are advantages to having a trannie father! Likewise I was very impressed with the jewellry stand and choker she bought me!

I avoided the heat by spending the rest of the day light hours curled up on my couch watching DVD's in air conditioned comfort. When I finally emerged to go to the party with Beth at 9.30 at night I was finding it a little hard to cope with the temp still being 29°C. My daughter once again laughed at what I had on saying that I looked more business emo than goth!!! Its a good thing that I love her otherwise she would never get away with that sort of thing...... calling me emo, blah! LOL

All up, a better christmas I could not have wanted.

As for the heat Penni, I don't think it bothers me too much now that I am on holidays for a couple of weeks. Afterall I am nocturnal and much of the heat is gone before I even begin to thing of venturing to far from the air conditioning. It might be a different story when I am back to work though.....
