Valentine's Day Blizzard

Post by Lisa(SO) »

Help us we are snowed in! We have a little more that 20 inches and it is still falling  They started to announce school closings last night before a single flake fell. My 11 year old was on cloud 9 @@9@@ ! She dreamed of snow forts, ice skates, skis, and snow mobiles. We are projected to get around 36 inches or more. I want to go south

I posted a couple of pics in the gallery.

How is the weather for everyone else?

Well... certainly not like that, Lisa. We were soaked in rain for much of last week and some of this, and now have the sun back.

36 inches! Whew! Good luck in riding this one out, dear.

So do I, Lisa, so do I!!! The warmer winters are one of the things that I miss the most by no longer living in the Tampa area!!

No snow here, but it's very windy - the sun was shining most of the day, so that made me feel better (even though I did not step one foot out my front door)!! [-( Roanoke and Salem missed the snow that was forecasted, but areas around us were not so lucky - - seems that the mountains to our immediate west broke up the system - whew!! =D>

Good luck in riding out your snow storm, Lisa - and I enjoyed chatting with you earlier today, and I'm looking forward to our next chat session!!

Hi Lisa (SO)

I'm on the southern edge of the storm. Think we had maybe 6 inches, but still, they canceled all schools today, and I didn't have to go into work either!

Well, we got 1/4" of ice with about 4" of snow on top of it.

I left my truck at the office last night and drove my wife and her car home.

We dug out the driveway this morning, only to have a plow dump some more back in. Most of the main roads were OK goiing back into DC this morning. Her car is an Avalon with traction control, so we did OK even on the non-plowed roads.

Just tried to dig out enough for our son to go to work this evening. Broke a shovel, the ice pulled the head off a pitch fork. Finally we got enough, but he still couldn't get out, so I had to show him how.

We are in the middle of a nasty snow/ice/wind storm. Everything is iced over. It would be pretty if it wasn't so nasty. About 40,000 people are without power just south of me. That's gotta suck!

I hope you all stay warm. Love, Lisbeth

Just a few flakes over here. (less than 2") My sis in Cleveland got stuck in a motel last night. She didn't make it home till this afternoon. She only works fifteen miles from home.

Stay warm over there. And be careful!

Hugs,
Kyra

Virginia- Smuggs got 38 inches of snow. The skiing will be great. It is all powder since it is sooooo cold. Elayne is shoveling us out so I can make it to the bank. Gotta love husbands :) . Johnsone got hit actually we all got hit. 500 schools were closed today and yesterday....hmmm that is most likely every school in the state.

Virginia you will have to bring SL up here sometime. She may like the summers a bit better and the hiking is gorgous. I will post a pic later of the aftermath.

Sorry to hear about all the ice that others got. THat can be so dangerous. Donna T what a great hubby you are driving your wife home.

We only got about 6-7" in northern MA. Consistancy is hard, you can cut it into blocks for building a snow fort, since we had a bit of sleet and rain mixed in.

38 " is a lot, and a lot of work to deal with.

We had about 3" of sleet. Mostly we stayed home and it was very cozy and relaxing what with the kids and wife (she's a teacher) all home. I would have loved the storm to pieces if I could have gone out and played in it but my knee wouldn't allow that.

Hi Girls! (I'm the newbie) We had a fierce ice storm yesterday and 40 mph winds last night. Not weather that I enjoy AT ALL. I was able to stay in today and work in the studio. I heated up some of Jeannie's cutlets for an early dinner and I don't think I'll budge from the house for the rest of the day. Enjoy & stay warm! hugs, tink
