Thanks Danielle for sharing that with us...... I'm sure as time goes on, we will be more accapted and recognized. What is important, it when we are "out" and in the public eye, we have to project an image that can be acceptable, not repulsive.
Enjoy today, cause this ain't a dress rehersal!

This was on the forum last week and SL and I both sent our opinions in. SL's got posted and I read it. I am sure mine was up also, but they had such an influx of comments they could not leave them all up for any length of time evidently. I am sorry about her job, but in the big picture it just makes "us" more relative and actually educates a portion of the "great unwashed" that we exist and we are, dare I say, everywhere!!!
As I say, "Go Forth Woman---------and BE!!!!!

DeeDee started a thread in Transgender Issues on Feb 21st, which can be found here:

I still hope that Ms. Stanton can be convinced to file a discrimination suit against the City of Largo.

How could she be fired?

Post by Jeannie »

Hi ladies
If she was not competent at her job firing is in order but how could she be fired for just coming out and being herself? What does that have to do with how you perform your job? Nothing. Besides being completely unfair and blatant descrimination it's just plain stupid. I feel sorry for her. What recourse does she have?

Thank you girls.

I see that there was an entry by DeeDee not long ago and a link has been provided to it.

The one posted comment that accompanies the article on "Susan" posted here in the first entry should tell everyone something very important.

I am speaking about the quote from the Pastor of The Local Baptist Church with a following of 30 people. The news media obviously felt that the "extreme right" comments were valid. That this particular pastor "knows what Jesus would do and that was basically get rid of Ms. Stanton." The Ms. Stanton would be neither a male or female but rather, "an it" and would be ruefully sorry for this decision.

It is with this gaul and bravado that people with such an attitude, rather than work an ordinary day, find it more to their ego in preaching the word of God to their benefit, even if to only 30 people. So that "they and their ego," are served rather than those that the job description calls for as in the downtrodden and those in despair.

Tell me I am wrong, but this person was headline grabbing with his point of view that is shared by a meager 30 other people and even then, we really do not know their opinion if they are still allowed to have one.

I see more and more ego mad individuals in the pulpit than I have ever seen before as the power of the "right" is courted by national politicians. We may be a "melting pot," but sour cream has been rising to the top lately!

As Randy Newman said"He gives us all his love"

Post by Jeannie »

Hi ladies
I have a little song for you girls written by Randy Newman from his "Sail Away" album. I thought of it after reading Danielles post. It says it all.

He gives us all his love

He gives us all his love
He gives us all his love
He's smiling down on us
From up above
And he's giving us all his love

He knows how hard we're trying
He sees the babies crying
He sees the old folks dying
He gives us all his love

If you need someone to talk to
You can always talk to him
If you need someone to lean to
You can lean on him

He gives us all his love
He gives us all his love
He's smiling down on us
From up above
And giving us all his love
He's smiling down on us
from up above
He's giving us all his love

It must be nice to be very religious and you're in the know. That's great. You know what the Creator believes is right or wrong and it must be a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. It must be true that Jesus loves you. Why don't you call him up and see if he wants to hang out with you this weekend. I can't wait for the Rapture. Boy will we people left here on earth have a great freakin party!Hugs. I have to go shave my legs!

Hi Girls:

Ah, perhaps I gave some of you the wrong impression in my last post. Religion, the belief in a Creator is a given. It is part of our human process. Anyone in science pretty much supports the concept that there is a greater power at work than can be safely defined to satisfy everyone. Therefore there is organized religion.

After all, plumbing is organized, electricians follow a code, Doctors and Lawyers have a process in their respective specialities. Why not the same in concepts of religion.

So, my point is, "do unto others as you have them do unto you." To follow that concept:

If some one takes a dollar from you and you take the dollar back, are you both theives? Did you and he steal something? Because it was yours in the first place, the law says that you are not, but, what is the difference?

My point is that there needs to be definitions for actions before we can make a judgement. Organized religion establishes a set of rules that you in joining, agree to follow. That is rather simple. A religion can be based on many things and for some it is just the Ten Commandments. That's it. Keep those and you are a true follower of that specific religion.

I just have a problem with people becoming so enhanced by their belief that they take it upon themselves to speak for God. That they "know" what God is thinking. I draw the line there!

Perhaps I should consider the Pastor that I spoke about before just like the plumber or electrician. They all have a set of rules to follow and do so because they believe they are their profession else, they would not practice it every day without fail.

So the Pastor is right to speak out on what he believes. But, I to and you as well have the same right. Perhaps it is the press that we should have a debate with over this matter. They are the ones that pick and choose whom to report and quote on. They have more influence than I could ever have. Perhaps, someone here on the forum has that level of influence and keeps it to themselves.

Tick-Tock, times up Danielle.

Hugs

The two female attorneys on Fox News this morning arguing this case. One supports the city counsel in that they feel they have an "obligation" to their constituents to fire Steve/Susan under their "prudent person" rules.
The other argues that what they are saying is that a 14 year employee with an excellent service record and a female surely can not do as good a job as a male!!!!
If I were a GG I would be so mad I would bite nails in two. Where are the Women's Lib folk?? How dare they even hint that a woman is not as capable of doing the job as a man!!!!

Hi Virginia:

You are on track girlfriend! 7 out of 10 students in college today are women. Young men opt for trade-school and soft-tech (non-degree) education that puts them into the work force quickly. Of course over time, the college educated win out with higher initial salaries, management opportunities and perks that are not available to those that forego a higher education.

So with that in mind, how does one imply that women cannot do the job or will perform lower than men. Perhaps what they are saying is that (the good old boys) network will block the women from carrying out the job functions to the point of rendering their performance by appearance to be lower than that of an individual that has the support of said network (male).

If people support you in your endeavors, the job will get done. If they are busy sabotaging your efforts as they did in the HP affair with Ms. Carly Fiorina as CEO, (short-term), then one cannot hope to accomplish a level that will be recognized as positive by the stock buying public be they individual investors or institutional ones.

I think that this is the time to get "Susan (Steve) Stanton," to take a stand and charge up the hill with guns blazing for federal support for anti-discrimination towards the GBLT community as a whole. The bill should be in plain language and spell out each specific "community" that it recognizes to make it crystal clear that we too, (TG Community) will be included as part of our civil employment rights.

Dam, get me my (social) gun girl! I am feelin' lucky today! Plenty of political targets abound!

Shoot first.....do not bother to ask questions later that we already have the answers to...!

Hugs

Hi ladies
Luckly I know Scooter Libby and he just sent me a secret transcript of what really transpired when Vice President Cheney had the hunting accident with his lifelong friend.
Dick was walking with his buddy and his friend stopped him and said" Dick. I've known you all my life and there's a dark secret I've been hiding from you and all my family. I not the person you think I am. I've been in the closet all thes years.I think you will understand and be sympathetic because we have known each other for so many years. It's very difficult for me to come out and say this but..... I'm a......I'm a.......... I'm a Democrat.
"BOOM"
Hugs ladies.

Jeannie

PS. Give me a break! I didn't sleep well last night. I had a terrible nightmare. Every person on earth had vanished and I was left all alone except for Marley. We were on a cliff overlooking a beautiful beach on a tropical island and all of a sudden we see a tall willowy blond walking towards us on the beach. Me and the Marlster were so happy to see another human being. As she got closer we realized it was Ann Coulter and we jumped to our deaths on the jagged rocks below.

That "Misremembered" defense for Scooter Libby went over like a lead ballon with the jury. I must say that misremembered is an instant classic.
" No Honey. I didn't lie about trying on your clothes! I misremembered! Trust me on this one babycakes!"

Petition from SFSU for Stanton's reinstatement

Post by Danielle La Belle »

Petition from University of California at San Francisco:

Less than a week after Largo City Manager Steve Stanton announced he was transgendered, the small Florida community's city commission fired him*. This is workplace discrimination, plain and simple. I just signed the 'Stand with Stanton' petition, and I hope you will too:

http://nsrc.sfsu.edu/Petition.cfm

When the Commission fired Stanton, they ignored his excellent record as an energetic and effective leader. Stanton has received consistently positive performance reviews from the City Council and the Mayor while managing over 1,200 employees and the city's $130 million budget.

The promise of America is that if you are a good employee, you should be rewarded for it regardless of your race, creed, disability, gender or sexual orientation. Stanton's firing was an un-American display of workplace discrimination and this injustice should be reversed. Sign our 'Stand with Stanton' petition that we'll deliver to the City Commission in Largo, FL.

End of petition entry.................

I keep a copy of the on-line story-book, "So you want to be a T* Girl," beside my easy chair. I remember the author, post TS, wrote, " When your bell goes off, it is like a horse in the starting gate.... Your off and running and there is no stopping you from this."

I think that while it may have been a slow start for Susan Stanton, she heard the bell and with some prompting from a local newspaper preparing to "break the story," this activated the device (bell) prematurely. None the less, it already had gone off in her head and there was no turning back!

Click the link and send in your copy of the petition when you get a chance. Be sure that others hear about this on the forum! Supporters are badly needed in a small comunity in comparison to the majority that usually shows up for the "cross burning" and subsequent debasement of the individual being flogged in the press.

Hugs
