Speaking of Harry Potter...
I got my copy of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" on Saturday morning, around 7:30. I finished reading it yesterday (Sunday) at around 3:30pm.
I would say that I liked it. Made me cry a couple times, was exciting in other passages, but IMHO, book 6 is still the best of the series. But I understand that JKR needed to end the story, so she couldn't leave unresolved issues and big expectations like in book 6.
Only issue I have after reading the book... yes, my arms and wrists are a bit sore... it is a heavy book! (But well worth it!)

Not my kind of read but my 17 year old daughter was very excited Friday night as she has grown up with Harry! She queued for over an hour Friday night in our local shopping mall for the book to be released midnight. There were huge lines waiting but they all had fun. Some people were dressed up, there was a woman with two live owls there and the shop staff were entertaining the crowd with quizes, jokes etc! Harry Potter fever hit town and now I wish I was a fan as it sounds like everyone had a lot of fun!
BTW...I won't be reading the books now as my daughter has told me the ending
She loved the book and the ending
Daughter has just texted me on her way to Cambridge to tell me she is on the 'Cambridge Express' and there is a real platform called 9 and 3 quarters at Kings Cross Station, London.
She is looking forward to seeing some hallowed halls at Cambridge like at Hogwarts as she is spending a taster week at Cambridge University.
Love,
Curly.

Hi Curly!
I have to say that I waited home for my book to be delivered instead of going to any of those midnight events to pick up my copy there. But what was important was getting it.
Can't believe your daughter spoiled the ending for you! (Unless you wanted her to tell you the end) - My wife started reading the book after I was done, but she is a different type of reader than I am. I read it as quick as I could, while she will take her time... so, in the mean time I have been totally forbidden to talk about any of the details of the story!
Anyway, how great about your daughter's trip to Cambridge! I hope she will have a great time there! I wonder if they have a sorting hat in there? *LOL*
Love,
Gaby

Harry Potter book 7
Greetings: Read all the books, seen all the movies.
Rowling is a good entertainer, who creates fascinating, believable characters that readers come to care about.
Sorry that Mad Eye Moody was killed; kinda liked him.
I was just disappointed that the book's coda was so mundane-- the next generation goes off to Hogwarts, and the three main characters appear to be living conventional lives in the suburbs. Of course, after all they've been through, perhaps that's what they really wanted.
Rowling's coda reminded me a little of the end of Lord of the Rings, with Sam Gamgee surrounded by his family at Bag End.
Anybody else out there a big fantasy fan? Comix? Graphic novels? Anybody seen the new Stardust film?
Peace'n'Luv-- Kendra Lynn

Call me a cheater - but I finished the seven book series in about 3 weeks. I didn't exactly read them but got through them non-the-less.
I had a lot of miles on the road in my car by myself, so I listened to them from the audio books. I found them facinating. When I had spare time not in meetings, or on the road, I listened to them in whatever free time I had.
They are remarkable books. The story was most interesting, and there were times of course that I wish she wasn't so long winded, but that is the author's choice of how to tell the story.
I was surprised at the ending - not to let any secrets out - but there was no mention of Harry's muggle relatives at the end. I wonder what ever happened to them.

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend.
Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

Hi
Well I am totally potty about Harry Potter.
I have always been fantasy fiction fan. I cut my eye teeth on Asimov and cannot get enough of Star Trek, Voyager, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Dune, Lord of the Rings etc etc..
I thought the ending was rushed, I could sense the story was falling down, like a house of cards in the last few chapters. The end was imho rubbish. It didnt need the happy ever after bit.
I was dissappointed that two out of three main characters survived. I think a better ending would have left Ron Weasley on his own!
I am glad the series is finished. Each time a new book came out I read the whole series from the beginning. my favourite book is The Order of the Pheonix.
Like with the Gaby Zone, I wonder how many authors will come up with alternative scenarios.
