Two Days

Post by DonnaT »

Well, Xmas is over and I didn't have to cook a Xmas dinner. Although I did make a turkey for my wife's office party back on the 18th.

On Xmas eve we went to our daughter's for dinner and gift exchange. She gave me a bluetooth earphone for my cell, which wasn't bluetooth compatible.

She did a good job with cooking her first Xmas dinner.

Xmas morning, we opened presents. This year I didn't worry about what was tucked into my Xmas stocking, since our son knows all. From it I received some OPI hand and nail products, some lip gloss that attaches to my key ring, and a palette of eye shadows.

My wife has been trying to get me to upgrade my cell phone, even though it works perfectly. So she gave me a new Venus cell phone, and got it in pink so I would accept it more readily. And it's bluetooth capable. Our SUV is also, so it becomes a large rolling speaker phone when we get in with the cells phones on.

Later we drove up above Baltimore to have dinner at the home of her boyfriend's mother. Her husband is a chef, so he spent most of his time in the kitchen. Everything was good. Her BF has a brother that reminded me of George Clooney, even in his voice.

My wife didn't expect any of the items I got her, and this year, many came from placing orders online, since no local shops carried them. Nice not having to fight the crowds in the malls, but worrisome nonetheless.

I had been waiting for someone to sell an iPod compatible video player that mounts under the kitchen counter, and last month it was supposed to be in the Best Buy stores, and on sale. None in the state carried it. None in MD carried it. So I ordered it from their online site.

Two weeks later I get an email saying it was on back order and would be shipped in two weeks. Two weeks later it was still on back order, and seven days until Xmas.

So, I did an online search and amazon.com had 4 left. Went to the Best Buy site again, and it was no longer advertised.

I ordered it, and canceled the Best Buy order. It came in four days. [-o<

I wish. Got the wine and everything, but can't partake.

I'm on a very restricted diet for the next two weeks in prep for an I123 (radio active iodine) full body scan. :(

Donna, is that a CT scan? I had one earlier in the year. The iodine injection felt so weird...a sudden hot, wet rush all through your body...I was mortified because I was convinced I had wet myself (TMI :P ) but of course I hadn't! I was a bit worried when the nurse asked if I was allergic to iodine, having never experienced it before  When Ed had one done, he said he felt like his head was going to explode! Sorry, Donna, it's not a bad experience...honestly :P

Good luck with it!

Hugs,

It may be a CT, not sure. It's supposed to find any thyroid cells, particularly cancerous ones, that may be left over from the thyroidectomy.

I've had an Iodine injection twice, and didn't feel a thing, one when they were doing a heart scan. At least I think it was iodine with the heart scan. Not sure now. And another I definitely know was iodine for the thyroid scan.

This time it will be a capsule I take on the 7th and the scan will be in the 8th.

So, nothing with red food die, no milk/dairy products, no white flour only whole grains, restrictions on meat intake, and no iodized salt or products containing it.

Day one was ok, and I (not Mary :P ) had a little lamb, a salad and applesauce for dinner.

I've also had to stop my thyroid hormones, and have put on 8 lbs since then. Hopefully the restricted diet will slow or reverse the weight gain.

Don't you also have to avoid seafood?

Hope it goes well. No synthroid can be unpleasant.

Funny.

I canceled the Best buy order on Dec. 16, receiving an email confirmation.

Today I get an email update on my order saying they no longer have it in stock and can't get one.

So they sent me a digital coupon code for a future online order (Exp. Feb 28 ).
