Help for a Palm tungsten T2... please...

Post by Allena »

A friend of mine is having some issues with hers and I was hoping someone here would have experience with them.

Anyone? [-o<

Here's her question...
Hi-
I've had a palm tungsten T2 for about two years now, and absolutely depend on it. My 'executive function' is close to non-existent. Recently, it died; tech support on palm said that the battery was likely dead, given the age of the device, and told me that a tech at Radio Shack (there are no palm stores within driving distance) should be able to replace it without dumping the memory.
The girl at the first radio shack thought that it was a cell phone. I've been to two others, and while they weren't as bad as the first, neither were they inspiring of confidence.
Does anyone have experience with these devices? Do you think I could replace the battery myself, if I was on chat with palm tech support while I did it? If you've sent a device in to palm by mail for servicing, how long did it take to get it back?

thanks in advance.
Thanks to anyone who offers up some advice.
 =D>

I haven't had to replace the battery in my Tungsten yet, but I did replace a battery in an earlier model Palm. I bought the new battery, complete with a screwdriver for opening the case and instructions off eBay. It was much cheaper than sending it back to Palm.

If I remember correctly this one has a soldered in battery. If you can not solder do not attempt. If you can solder, opening up is the hard part
