Your own worst enemy is in the mirror.

Hi Ladies
I read the posts of despair, anger, fear, self loathing and hopelessness. Been there, done that.If you think about it,it's a self fullfilling prophecy.
It's easy to blame others for the miserable life you lead, but the blame rests squarely on your own shoulders.
Bad things happen in all of our lives. No one is spared. You can continue to feel miserable. That is only up to you ladies.
There is a song by country artist Neil McCoy that says it better than I ever could. I now live life by the lyrics.
Life is a series of choices both good and bad. Only you have the power to choose the right one. Read these lyrics and think hard ladies. Life is short.

Love
Auntie Jeannie

"That's Life"

You could live for the glory days an' your place in the sun
Always tryin' to win first place, impressin' everyone.
You could shoot for the moon an' lose yourself tryin' to get it,
Or you could stomp on the ground, let life get you down,
If you choose to let it ,get you down.

Every time you drop the ball,
Every heartache, every fall,
When you thought you had it right.
An' every day the sun's not shinin',
Tomorrow, put it all behind you.
Keep lovin' every day an' night:
That's life

Some days you round third base just to get tagged out.
Some days the fruit falls from the tree straight into your mouth.
Or you could beat yourself for all the things you did an' didn't do.
Or let life pass you by wishin' the sky was green instead of blue.
What you gonna do?

Every dance you had to miss,
Every time you missed a kiss,
Though the stars were shinin' bright.
An' every time you found a way,
To be a hero an' save the day.
An' every time you didn't win the fight,
Yeah, that's life.

You could be standin' on top of the world, every dream comin' true.
You could blink your eyes an' fate takes it all away from you.
Or be down on your knees prayin' to God: "Please help me understand."
Or find some peace an' know it's really out of your hands.
It's out of your hands.

Every blessin' you receive
Every single breath you breathe;
Every moment that goes by.
And every dream that doesn't find you
Tomorrow, put it all behind you.
An' keep lovin' every day an' night.

Yeah, you put 'em all together,
Wrong or right, that's life.
Oh that's livin' life.
Yeah, you got keep on keepin' on. (That's life.)
Take the good an' bad an' all of that:
Yeah, that's life, that's life.

Thanks Jeannie,

As I sit here fully made up for the first time since my last self induced episode,I can say that you are 100% correct. We are responsible for our own happiness.I say this but at the same time I am still letting it sink in.I hope I can follow this very sane advice and avoid any further episodes.

This has been the major theme of my thread about TODAY"S DAILY DEVOTIONAL (Creative Thread) ever since I started posting in it. The difference is, instead of speaking about the "bad," as you call it, I AM presenting to you a POSITIVE manner in which to look at it and act upon it. For to merely look at it or even just to think about it does not make it happen.

You have to ACT upon the positive to draw it to you. And you do draw it--be it positive or negative. It is ALL up to you.

You see in the mirror what you want to see. When I am dressed and made up, I look in the mirror, and I see a decent-looking mature lady - conservatively dressed and quite passable. I look again, and I see an old geezer in a dress. Which is it? One is fantasy, the other reality - same mirror, same person. I prefer the fantasy, but reality lurks in the background. I see what I want to see. The mirror is not the enemy. In the words of possum Pogo:"We have met the enemy and he is us."

Thats a good message Jeannie.

However I would like to say there are some (self fulfilling prophecy or not) who cant get past the negative things just yet. Saying to them oh just get over it actually can drive them further into all those negative things because it sounds like they some how dont measure up giving them fuel to stay depressed or whatever. (My biggest gripe about Dr. Phil) Of course how one says it makes a difference too.
Im only saying this because it is close to home. Its taken me quite some time to get my self confidence back. I can stay away from the black hole pretty well now, but it takes a lot of encouragement to get there, and effort to maintain it. It does get easier as time goes by.

BTW, I have found your posts most refreshing and often helpful. Thanks!

Jeannie my love,

I know and understand what you are trying to say, your life is to full of things that have to be taken care of as you are a care taker. *;*;*

Sweetheart I have been there done that and the only thing I can say it's time to take care of Jeannie.

Hey Carol Ann
Sing along Hon.... Don't cry for me Argentina. Ooo! I love Patti Lupon who starred in Evita on Broadway. She lives in Litchfield CT.
If I didn't do everything for everyone else in my life I wouldn't have one! My kids tell me that all the time. Give me a break will ya Carol Ann.
As for a caretaker I think my family thinks I need one. After my Texas tuesday Barbecue night a couple of hours ago, I smell an intervention coming soon. They are going to confiscate my camera!
Bad news in Waterbury. My favorite grocery store Prcie Chopper is closing on June 9th. Oh the humanity!
The good thing is I bought a whole frozen duck today for 10 bucks! I have a rottiserie on my grill. Any good tips for marinade and slow roasting a duck Carol Ann? When I think of meat, I think of you Hon.
I was pondering whether or not to post my barbecue pictures my son was forced to take. Nothing more persuasive than a Colt 45. Not the beer.I said to myself" Could these ruin your reputation?" Then I thought"I don't have one to ruin! Go for it!"
George W Bush would be proud of me Virginia. Maybe I can be his personal secretary and grill girl when he retires to Crawford. Hugs.

Hey, Little Buckaro! I like that song, and thank you for posting it, hon. I'm sure you and Bush'll get along just dandy down there in Crawford, come early 2009. You can commute back and forth, and they may even have a few Secret Service agents to accompany you. Remember us "little people" when you hit it big, Jeannie!

I have options.

Hi Anita
If I don't get a call back from Dubbya, I also sent my resume to Dick Chenney.
Dick is my kind of man. He went to Yale and was a great football player but got tossed out three times and the last time they said"Don't come back!" His name is a perfect fit Anita.
I have to run. My pony,Cleatus is parked in a tow zone.
I did my profile page in the Texas mode on MySpace Hon. I found the perfect theme song to add. Gene Autry singing that classic "Back in the saddle again."
You should put it on your bands song list for a change up. It's sweet!
Hugs.

Hey Dale!? Do you still ride side-saddle!!??

You know I have heard, dragging a duck behind your horse is an easy way to remove the feathers!

Well that is what I heard!

Love you you little buckaroo!!!!
