Is there any explaination as to why this site suddenly goes off line, mostly late at night ( chat room ) when we have been talking to each other ?

Hi, CharLee -
I have no idea what you are talking about, as this forum is 'up and running' 24/7.
Please provide us with a detailed description of what is happening, where you are on the site when it happens (the forum, chat room, gallery), the approximate time of day/night when it occurs, etc. so that we can try to locate and repair the problem, if there is indeed one. I am wondering if you are being 'timed out' of chat, too, so the length of your time spent in chat on those nights will also be very helpful.
I know there are times when I've been online late at night - and happen to be logged in here - when Internet Explorer can't 'find' this forum (or other sites) when I've gone from one page to another. However, I know my pc is performing an auto-update in the 'late night/early morning' hours and that slows down my pc, and I'm also on a satellite system. All I usually need to do is just refresh the page and that seems to take care of it . . . but that does not necessarily mean that you are experiencing the same thing.
Again, provide us with detailed information so we can properly investigate this matter.
Thank you!

Thanks for your quick response SL. This has happened a couple of times now while I was in the chat room, usually late at night around 11:00 P.M. I will be chatting with others and all is fine, then suddenly when I go to type a response in, the text doesn't show up. When I try to log out then log back in I get a screen from IE saying that they can't display this page at this time. It is not be " timed out " by flash chat, as I have dealt with that before and have always been able to re-enter the room.
This has happened to others who I have talked too so I don't think it is my computer system. If you can find out what is causing this to happen it will be a welcomed explaination.
Thank you ,
CharLee

This has happened to me in daytime. In my case it is often an AOL problem. I switch to Firefox, and all is OK.
It may be a local IT glitch, especially if there is lightning about - a lot here in Florida.

The dead text not showing up has recently happened to me as well. So I think I need to refresh the page or reload it to find it's totally gone. It has taken up to 1/2 and hour to get back in once I've been blown out.
My thinking is the DNS might be getting messed with rather than hitting on the site directly? What if the trouble is with an update to shockwave whatever the chat engine is? BTW, I use Firefox; I'm saying this in case there is a probability of the error being on the client side with recent updates.

I have checked the forum for the last three days and I have never had a problem connecting. I know some of the members here have had temporary problems in the past and on retrying all has been well.
I have found nothing at our end to indicate what the issue is. Maybe its something local to you - something like a netsplit in the old IRC days.
I will keep as close an eye as I can on the forum for the foreseeable future.

Thank you, Susan, for checking into and monitoring this situation.
I, too, have had absolutely no troubles with either the forum or chat, regardless of the time of day or night, and presumed the problem was not occurring on our end.

It has nothing to do with this forum, but I have had a lot of problems with losing the internet, almost on a daily basis. It will just go down for a few minutes here a few minutes there. In this case I think it's a Comcast problem.

I've had the same problem. But I think it is Comcast or my computer. Susan suggested I restart my computer and that resoled the problem for that session.

Still no problems from here.
Thanks Carly, may I suggest everyone tries this next time they have a problem. Its a pain I know but its out of my control.
