I was wondering why when I sign into chat during the day My name never shows up to show I am in the chat room?

I just saw you were there, and left at the same time I entered chat.

I think it is a feature of the room, some script controls seem to stop some people logging out completely and their names stay in the list even if not in the room. It happened to me and when I relaxed the rules for this site I found I could log out completely.

I suggest you do the same if it happens to you. I assure you no trackers or unnecessary cookies are are used on this site.

That may be true in some cases - such as it apparently was for you, Susan - but for most of our members it is because they are not properly logging out of the Chat Room. This has been an ongoing problem, as can be seen by the date of the following Announcement.

I got the impression that Carol Ann was having the opposite problem--her name never shows up while she's in the chat room.

Hi, Anita -

I don't have a definitive answer for Carol Ann, nor does Susan, but Susan seems to think it may have to do with it being a "feature of the room". I was merely addressing the balance of Susan's comments as it related to logging out of the Chat Room.

Be that as it may, considering that this is the first time I have ever heard from anyone about this problem that Carol Ann is experiencing - a user name not appearing after logging in to Chat - and I know that we have not made any changes to the Chat Room software, I'm thinking it has more to do with Carol Ann's computer (maybe her script controls, as Susan suggested?) than it does with either the Forum's or Flash Chat's software or cookies.

Maybe someone else has a suggestion that may be of help for Carol Ann?

I saw Carol logged in to the chatroom yesterday. Joined and chatted and when I left, she was still logged in.
All seemed to work OK.

I went into the chat room tonight. There were six of us in there, and most of the six had been in for about an hour at the time I left. Only the first name--Celia--showed when I logged out. Whatever it is, it's happening to others besides Carol Ann. At the same time, it doesn't affect the chat room itself.

Hi, Anita -

I have been in and out of chat several times since Carol Ann first posted on this subject, and my name has always appeared on the list. I have also seen quite a few members being listed while they were in chat (but I was not in chat with them).

I know for a fact that we have not made changes to anything here at the forum, so that makes me believe the 'problem' lies with the members' individual computer, namely keeping their software updated.

Flash Chat has very little interaction with the Forum itself, so changes made to the forum will rarely affect Chat.

Accordingly, if members keep their Adobe Flash Player updated, they should not have any problems with Flash Chat.
