Photo Gallery Update is Complete

As of Friday evening, 2/17/2012 at 9:30 pm Eastern Time, the Photo Gallery Update is complete. Feel free to browse and comment and upload new photos.

I'll log the first issue here:

There is no button/link to return to the forum / message board.

Issue # 1 has been corrected. The "Home" link in the Gallery menu now returns you to the discussion forums home page. Thank you.

If I want to browse all the photos of a single person, I can do that by clicking on the name under one of the displayed pictures. The "Album List" item does not show any list. I could not find a way to display a particular album if there was no display in the random or current groups.

Click on the User Galleries link on the first page of the Gallery (or in the gallery menu) and that will display the list of all the members' albums.

Can the Search function include searching for an album name?

There is an option available to search by album title. It's near the bottom of the search screen. Simply click on it and it will search through the album titles for you.

I uploaded two pictures successfully, but there was a glitch I had to figure out.

When I uploaded the first one, I got a message I'd not seen before:
"Error. This album does not exist, or you do not have permission to post in it."

I went back and looked at the upload page. There is a menu above the 'choose file' window, that says, 'select album.'

I have only one album, and in the past, it must have automatically been selected. This time, I had to drop the menu down and select "Anita's album." After that, the upload worked just fine.

Anita - Thank you for reporting that new step! Obviously there are going to be some new things to learn (but not much), and this is one of them.


Everyone - Before anyone asks:

a. No, we are not able to alphabetize the gallery albums . . . we wish we could, but that option doesn't exist; all albums are still in the order by everyone's 'membership' date.

b. No, we will not customize or make changes to anything other than obvious defects/errors with regard to the photo gallery . . . and the same will hold true to the new forum upgrade when we go 'live' with that, too (which will be in the very near future).

I am happy to announce the gallery albums are now ordered alphabetically by users' names.

Thanks Caith for all your work. It now makes it easier for us to find the pictures of members that we are looking for.

That's one thing that I've disliked about the Photo Gallery for a long, long, LONG time. There was no way I was going to let this one thing defeat me for very long, ESPECIALLY when it made things more difficult for EVERYONE.

Now, who's going to be the first person to say they "liked the old way better"?
