Notification emails stopped coming - On Going Problem

Post by Anita »

Hi--
I've not gotten any notification emails for the last month or so. I had this happen once before, and at that time I received 40 notification emails, all at once. After that happened, the notifications came daily as before.

I posted about this on February 17, 2005. (I can't get that link to post in here. ) Beauty said it had happened to her also.

I've been waiting to get the mass mailing like last time, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Anything that can be done to break up the logjam?

Hi Anita,

I'll look into it and see if there is something we can do to prevent this from happening.

Anita,

I am not sure why you are having issues with the topic notifications but I searched extensively on the phpBB forum support site and I see no indication of this problem occuring for other ppBB forums (which is the forum software we use here).

Also I subscribed to a topic and then posted to the same topic and got an email notification within about 10 minutes.

I know this is never a good response to hear, but it appears it might be something on your end. Maybe an email filter, maybe something else way above my head....

If anybody else is having these problems let me know and I will dig some more.... but I can't make any promises I am not that good at this stuff.

When we first signed up, Adora was having an issue with her e-mail (AOL). She would put in her e-mail, but it would come up as a non-existent address for some reason (we assumed this since after the second or third time of her signing up, she wouldn't receive any e-mails).

She had to create a hotmail account in order to sign up in the end.

(Sorry to post for you, hon, but you're on vacation!)

Hi Shannon, Sharon--
Thanks for looking into it. I'm on another phpBB forum, and it's not a problem there. I also know that it's not being diverted by the spam filter. But AOL does have a tendency to create problems for forum users in general. Thanks for the feedback, Amanda. I will soon be moving on to faster access, and maybe the notitication emails will come back at that point.

I, too, am not receiving notification e-mails lately. Am also an AOL member, if that has anything to do with the problem.

I just got 11 notification emails. We'll see if that unblocks the stream, and allows the salmon to get to their spawning grounds again.

Hi Sharon and Shannon,

I have been having the same problems. I have a cable modem connection.

I am going to check and see if I can resolve this on my end.

Please keep us posted if you find out anything.

The system appears to be working fine since the backed-up emails came in.

I periodically have the same problem. Some topics that I reply to I rarely get a topic reply notice, while with other topics I'll always get replies - and my default is set to *always* receive replies. The problem is not consistent, and as I check the forum (and all sections) at least once a day, the lack of notices is not because I haven't 'checked in' with those topics.

***huh*** I guess we'll just have to blame those Cyber Screw-Up Fairies!! ##3##
