Separate login for Photo gallery? - Resolved
Logged in to the forum, I went to the Photo gallery--where I noticed I was NOT logged in. When I clicked on "Login," I found myself back at the index page of the forum. I tried this little game several times, with the same results.
I don't think the forum and the gallery have ever been separate logins. However, now that I'm logged into one and logged out of the other, how do I get the login page to come up for the gallery?

Hi, Anita -
DonnaT was having the same problem:
Maybe Caith can post instructions for members on how to clear out their cache, listing the different browsers and PC's?!?

DonnaT was having the same problem:
Please remember that we just upgraded the Forum's software yesterday morning, so some members may need to clear out their browser cache . . . and that's exactly what Caith will tell you to do. (Thanks, CJ!) Members may need to do the same for FlashChat, which was also upgraded yesterday.DonnaT wrote:Heck, I can't even find how to modify my albums now. And the top of the page says log in although I already am. I can view albums no problem.

I logged out and back in again, and now I can work on my albums.

Before this gets locked and we all pack up for the day and go down to the pub, I want to note that what's happening since is that :
A) I am automatically logged into the forum, but
B) I go to the gallery, and I am not logged in.
C) I go back and un-log, then re-login.
D) I check; I am now logged into both.
But as soon as I leave, it's the same the next time--no automatic login for the gallery.
No answer needed right away. Let's see if others experience this, AND--let's see if I continue to experiecne it.

I follow the steps Anita listed and still no login to the Gallery.
I can get in to view, but not to add or substract from my own album.
When I try to Login from the Gallery, it just returns me to the forum.
Caith !! Where are you?

DonnaT: D-Link is an equipment manufacturer. I doubt their equipment could be causing a problem, unless it's acting as a proxy server to the web.
Anita & Lydia:Problem noted. I suspect the photo gallery software may need a slight tweak to sense the new forum software's login. I'll look around and see what I can find.

I just tried from two different computers (XP and Vista, both using Firefox) at home, and logins from the forum are carried over to the photo gallery for me. If I'm not logged into either and browse directly to the photo gallery, the 'Log In' link there will take me to the forum login page, where my browser fills in my information and I just hit 'Enter'.
Lydia, I believe you've previously mentioned you use the AOL browser? If I'm not remembering correctly, I apologize. I think there may be a phpBB forum patch that specifically addresses AOL users, and it may be causing the problem you're seeing.
Anita: Can you tell me how you're surfing to the forum? Mac or PC or AOL or anything else? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or something else? It may help me diagnose the issue.
Thank you for your patience ladies, while I dig through the forum code. I'm no phpBB or Coppermine Photo Gallery software expert, but I can dig far enough to hopefully resolve most issues.

I've applied a patch that should help prevent some of the 'Invalid session' or 'Session ID' type of errors. This should do a better job of retaining your login and session information when browsing from work or via AOL networks and browsers.
Please let me know if this patch does or does not resolve your problems.

Hi Caith,
I have the same problem - open the Gallery and have to login - click on Login and I am back in the forum.
I am using the AOL browser which is really Internet Explorer slightly modified.
I'll try it with Thunderbird (Mozilla) and withe IE and report back.

Virginia and I have experienced absolutely no problems logging in to the Forum since the upgrade, and we're using IE with XP-2, Cox Cable, and a router (for moi). Our logins from the Forum are carried over to the Photo Gallery and back again without exception.
I won't voice my opinions on AOL, other than to say it should be avoided entirely . . . and I'm being *extremely* polite.
I trust Caith will find the appropriate solutions so all our members may access the Gallery without incident.

When I access the photo gallery, the top of the page gives me the following choices:
Choosing "Login" just returns me to the forum.
Choosing "Search" gives me a simple search window - no options as before.
I use a router, so am on Internet all the time. I've tried three browsers, all with the same results. Cleaned the browser cache; cleaned Temp Internet Files.
The new software seems not to like me.
