Hi. For the last few connects to the site, a message from Norton shows up saying that an attack on my computer from this exe command has been blocked. About one time out of three tries, it still goes through, and the other times it throws me off the site. Anyone else report this problem, is it a software problem that I am encountering for the first time, a Norton firewall problem, or is it a possible real infection from your program? The only thing that I have done is increase the spam guard protection on my Yahoo account after getting several spam messages that I deleted without opening, and that was well over a week ago and there was no problem until today.

When I changed from opening menue to one of the other sections, another message popped up with the block message. This one said "This website wants to run the following Add-on "Microsoft data access-remote data services Dat-----' from Microsoft Corporation". Do you know what this is and why it is here?

I received the same message when I came to the site, before I logged in. It wants to DL an ActiveX program, and my Norton displayed a message that I did not catch.

Norton sucks. I suggest McAfee or try AVG for free http://www.grisoft.com/

are you saying this is not something sinister, an attempt to install an undesired plugin or something, but the result of Norton suddenly starting to read as bad something that it had not caught before?

I agree with Donna, I use AVG and believe me it will wipe all that bad stuff.
First time I used it it found 8 Trogen Horse in a Direct X files. Down side is I scan the whole computer and it takes over 2 hours, but I am bug free.

Donna is correct . . . Norton "sucks" and actually causes more problems than it's worth. The original Norton programs were very good, but "Norton" has been sold off (several times?) and is no longer the "original Norton" . . . their quality has gone down the tubes with each sale. McAfee is better than Norton, but AVG - both the free and paid versions - is the best (IMHO).

I've been using the free version of AVG's anti-virus program for years and have never had a problem, nor has anyone else that I've recommended it to; even our own Software Admin, Caith, uses that program! Although AVG is making it slightly harder to find the free version on their website (after all, they are in business and need to make money) , it's worth the 'digging' for the free version, and you won't be sorry you've downloaded it.

Carol Ann - I've got 3 hard drives on my PC, and it only takes AVG about an hour for a complete scan of everything. If you're finding that it takes 2 hours to scan your system, you might want to have your system checked and increase your RAM to the maximum allowed.

For the record . . . our Forum does not use any ActiveX programs, and if my memory serves, nor does FlashChat.

this morning I was getting messaged that the Virus Scanner had intercepted a virus called "Download" and quarentine it, when I first accessed the site. It caught the attempt 5 more times before I decided to log off. Later I tried to log on and received a message that the site was down. Just noticed that the site is back up and no more attacks.
