Hi.This is my first thread here and I was wondering,is there any main organization of transgendered support and activism?
I understand being somewhat recognized in the GBLT thing but is there something for us?I know that many of us are different and can be gay, lesbian or bi(male to female or female to male)..but the first three letters (GBL) and the last (T),are two different things.Sexual preference and gender identity are not the same.
I dont know if this should have been posted in the transgendered section or not but it wont let me in and I dont know why.
What do we have?

Everyone has access to the Transgender Issues section, CD and GG alike, as well as the general public (non-members).
However, The Journey Beyond section, which is for those who are "more than a crossdresser" and their partners, is a special user group for members only. If anyone feels that they are 'more than a crossdresser' or if they are a spouse/partner to someone who so identifies, and they would like access to The Journey Beyond, simply send me a PM. While there is no special password required, members must be logged into the forum to read and/or post in those sections (and I need to "flip the switch" on their account).
More information may be found here:

Hi Kayla,
Yes there are a multitude of "organizations" out there. Some include "us" others would rather that we not exist, but since we do they offer us "lip service" h=while others have their own agenda like those of our sisters who have transistioned and yet wish to ignore the fact that they were once as a lot of us are but we choose not to "take the advanced course."
I use to try and keep a running list of the organizations that I would come across, but it just got out of hand, even trying to figure out what each one's belief system was. Then they would be in conflict with each other over some new bill that was to be presented and how it should be worded and --------- "cat fights" would erupt on the internet and it just got to be too much to follow.
I gingerly support EV (Equity Virginia) here in the Commonwealth as they are primarily a Political Action Committee for GLBT here in the state. I have been to a couple of their meetings and some 100+ attend. Just last year they formed a standing committee for "Transexuals" where as before "we" were just lumped in with the rest, (gays and lesbians). We had one of the largest attedance in our break-out session so it definitely added credence to our participation. We have some good leaders who, although we only have one TG on the board, they do seem to listen to us more now.
I think as more and more medical evidence filters out that we are not nuts, that what we "have" = the gift as I am fond of calling it, that is is not the result of some socio-economic misfortune that like most gays and lesbians, we were born this way. I think we will gain even more recognition of the positive typel
I know there are many social and political organizations available to you in New York state, so just keep looking on the web until you find something that you can relate too and feel comfortable participating with.
They all need your contributions, both monitarily and in person and there are some really nice folk out there!
Good luck and let us know what you pursue!
Love,
Virginia
