Laten Lesbians??

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Hi sisters,

I do think it's a big omission that this thread has not said more about hormonal effects. Hormones are said to be overwhelmingly important in sexual orientation—indeed decisive.

There is, I gather (I haven't surveyed it personally), a wide sample of experience showing that taking hormones as part of SRS can and does dramatically change one's sexual preferences (and other aspects of personality) in surprising and, for some, unexpected ways.

The topic has also been looked at in other threads on this forum, and both post-op and non-op TGs and TSs have commented at length, some from personal knowledge. That's a topic well worth looking up, and this thread could benefit from some of that discussion.

The extent of the sexual preference switch may vary with the age at which you begin transition. From sites that give the histories of successful MTFs, I gather the rule is: the younger you transition, the more likely that you as a newly established female will be attracted to men.

But if my impression is correct, over and over the message is: don't bet on anything when hormone changes are involved. Apparently the switchover can be rather startling and not entirely predictable, though with counseling and care the chance you take can be reduced.

Even so, though, I cannot imagine ever being attracted to a male. Nor can I imagine my obsession and delight in females ever lessening. But that may just be my own limitation speaking, as due to age and circumstances I have not attempted, and will not be attempting, hormones.

But we all (me included) need to realize that expressing our preferences without reference to hormones is somewhat unrealistic.

Love, Robyn Katie
