Can anyone tell me how long you can keep breast forms attached with Hollister adhesive and is it best to wear a bra in bed. What are your experiences with Hollister.
The one thing I’ve discovered since getting my forms is I need to replace some of my bras as before I made my own forms to fit my bra.
How Long

Jane,
In my case, I usually need to re-do them every 36 to 48 hours. But think it is affected by these factors:
size of breasts, larger ones put more stress on the adhesive and mine are typically near the top of the range.
chest hair growth, mine grows such that I think it gets between my skin and the breasts causing less contact between the two.
temperature of shower water (really, I've gotten into a shower with them firmly attached and had them almost fall off with very warm water).
I think that they would stay attached much longer if I did not have the chest-hair issue.
I only wear a bra to bed if I have just attached them. I figure sleeping on my back, or side isn't going to put much stress on the adhesive.
YMMV

Hi Jane,
Don't know if I can be of too much help, but...... first most if not all manufactures of silicone forms recommend that you NOT sleep in them ( I have and do sometimes) but I have a tendency to sleep on my back or side. Sleeping on your stomach puts pressure on the forms and can cause the thin membrane that holds the silicone in to rupture. Not even wearing a bra can prevent that. Not that it will happen but it can.
As for the adhesive, not sure what kind you use, tape or spray. What I would definite recommend is be very careful when "attaching" them with either as if you wrinkle the skin and then wear them for ?a while? 8 + hours I have heard of it being equilivent to being cut with a sharp object and it can be very painful both as you remove them and as you "heal" afterward.
The up side is if you get the forms on properly and the adhesion is good it sure opens up the dressing possibilities. Off the shoulder, if you dare, sexy see-through blouses, strapless gowns, etc. I guess my "record" and I must advertise, I got mine, tape and forms from The Breast Form Store, I have worn them for two days and a night with no problems. Had to take them off for reasons you can imagine, but I think they would have been good for probably another night and day and that includes a shower.
Good luck and take your time attaching them, then head up, chest out and SMILE.
Love,
Virginia

I found I am allergic to Hollister glue and any other latex glue, so much so that the adhesive literally burned my skin on my chest. So I stopped using it at all while my own grew. I was told by the lady consultant at the breast prothesis store locally, that it is best to remove them at least every 48 hous to let the skin "breathe" and make sure skin fungus doesn't start growing due to the persperation behind them. YMMV I suppose.

Like Virginia, I too got mine from the Brest Form store and also use the tape to adhere them to my chest. The longest I have worn mine attached is 14 hours. In that time they stayed vary secure. I have noticed that you need to shave your chest area very close or even the tape will not hold correctly.
