from our mountain

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Things have been fairly quiet on the mountain as of late.

Roanoke Pride is having a three day film festival next week-end. Have any of you been to such and what is it about other than watching movies and then having a round table discussion of them? I may go to one session just to see how many folk show up.

Our blackberry bushes are just covered in berries now and if they all ripen it will be awesome. We did not have anywhere near this many last year. SL was told that they usually do this every other year so we will see, but it is amazing the number of green berries on the bushes around here. Needless to say they all grow wild but they must be happy plants this year.

Our bird population is also down from last year. The crows love to attack the suet. Had four of them out there this morning trying to get at it. A few finches and several cowbirds and cardinals. We have a few hummingbirds coming and going. OH, one attacked itself in a mirror we have on the porch. When I found the little bird it was dazed, just sitting on the porch. I cried because I thought it may have really hurt itself. I picked it up and they are so beautiful, their little feathers seem to glow and they are so tiny and delicate. I sat it out on a rock in the flower bed and a few minutes later it was at the feeder in the back yard and seems to have recovered. Bet it was thinking it had attacked one really tough opponent. Moral to the story is if you don't like what you see in the mirror, - let it go!? :P

Well, hope to get my boat today as the contractor finished grading out the area at the bottom of our driveway as a place to park it. Long story on that boat, perhaps it is cursed. Four different engines and it has less than 80 hours on it and it is eleven years old? :-k Again, a long story.

Stay fluffy ladies,

Love ya all,

Virginia

Best boat I've been on? Someone else's ;)

Wild berries are great, until a black bear decides to hog them.

Donna, honey you have seen this gal in heels and she can move when she has too, of course I don't plan on picking berries in heels  Then on the second thought, a nice thong bikini and heels could distract a bear, works on men! =D>

Love ya,

Reminds me of one of my moms stories. When she was a girl her mom sent her to the berry patch one day. There was someone on the other side of the patch and she said hello but there was no reply. Eventually she worked her way around the patch to see a black bear contentedly eating up the berries. It didn't pay much attention to her so she calmly (at least outwardly) walked away from the patch, went home, and told her mom, who said she should wait till later to go back and finish picking the berries.

Moral of the story is never run from a bear, just like you don't try to run away from dogs.

She had a bunch of stories like this.
