Shapewear

Post by Bobbie Roberts »

Ladies....Just a curiosity question. How many ladies wear shapewear when under dressing...and when dressing?

I am a big fan of shape wear. I mean the old fashion longline bra and high waist long leg girdle or OBG...not Spanx or the equivalent. With out shape wear, I look rather lumpy and bumpy...and when dressing for an outing, I like to look smooth and sleek.

I have nothing against Spanx. I own several pair and use them frequently, just after undressing. I know for me, after having been dressed all day (10 hours or so), I feel flabby when I eventually take off my girdle. The Spanx provide light support to help with feeling of looseness.

For me, the long line bra and high waist panty girdle was the "thing to wear” (and it still is for me). I have tried the OBG and bra on numerous occasions, In fact I have several OBG's - Rago 1294 (great for figure control and extremely comfortable for hours of wear), Poirette "Always 21", Gossard Answer, Playtex Double Diamonds, Playtex 18 hr, to name a few. With some outfits, only an OBG will do. True, stockings are necessary...but that is OK. And when wearing a panty girdle, my preference is stockings and garters, but, sometimes pantyhose are the only choice, then I will wear the girdle over the panty hose.

But most of the time, my preference is to the high waist long leg panty girdle. I simply find it more practical; and more comfortable. And it provides the degree of figure control I need and like. And I almost always will wear panties under the panty girdle. My own preference is the Bali Skimp Scamp. The most important reason for the panties is: because of the "male hardware" ....the panties will help to keep the shapewear cleaner.....in case of...you know what I mean...happens. (I hope that this statement has not violated any rules).

Thanks for any input / comments you may have. Like I mentioned...just curious.

Bobbie,

It is nice to know what other girls are wearing. Thanks for the information.

Hugs,

Erica

I never go out without wearing a girdle - it just does not feel right.

I love my girdles and they give (with the aid of padding) the shape I want

I enjoy bustiers and some corsets, but they are hard to find and expensive. My OBG for some reason makes my back hurt, and I don't like pantygirdles because the package gets cramped and uncomfortable. However when I was younger I really liked them a lot.

It all depends on what my femme side feels like. A lot of time I enjoy doing yard work and stuff in a skirt, at which point these things become annoying.

I think it's interesting that a lot of us like shapeware because of the constriction and control. You can read in some advertisements aimed at us about this. I've commented before that this reminds me of how babies like to be swaddled because it reminds them of the womb. As adults we may enjoy falling asleep in a loved ones arms, and there may be some deep memory that impacts that. Personally I like the feeling of my clothing giving me a hug.

I like shapewear, the only problem is that most of it chokes me because I'm in a somewhat flexibility-intensive job right now (mechanic) and having something restricting my reach really isn't good. I guess I'll keep those for when I'm done my course *sigh*.

Susan,

As you are another person that always wears a girdle, be it an OBG or a Panty style, do you share the same "flabby" feeling I do when undressing, especially after wearing the girdle for all day or 10+ hours? Perhaps this is a unique feeling; as I have a pooch tummy and a muffin top which is one of the reasons I wear a girdle (and longline bra) in the first place...for support and to firm up those particular areas. I am most conscious of my "flabby-ness" in those areas immediately after undressing. This is one of the reasons I sometimes will switch to a lightweight girdle or brief or Spanx type of garment. Its not that I do not like wearing a girdle (and bra) for a long period of time (I do) the feeling is just after getting undressed. This feeling will eventually pass after 1/2 hr or so...it’s just sort of a weird feeling.

Oh well....this is just something to get use to...I suppose.

I have the opposite problem of most of the girls here.

I am very slim and need to add padding to achieve the womanly shape I desire. This mean I must wear a girdle with rear and hip padding whenever I go out.

The waist of the girdle comes up high and is tight even for me. I have had to, on occasion, wear it for ten to twelve hours.

It comes with a slit in the crotch so you don't need to remove it to use the restroom. Because of this I wear my panties over the girdle. I like it because it gives me a nice smooth shape. (no bulges or bumps from hips to breasts)

I don't really ned shapewear as I have a natural waist and quite a feminine bum but I do have a Rago 9357 which I wear with seamed nylons. It gives me the most wonderful definition under slinky dresses.
It costs a fortune to look this cheap!

Although I do sometimes use a suspender belt / waist cincher with 6 straps these days my problem is more down to a lack of shape a little lower. Although not a very womanly shape thsi is OK if I wear seperate skirt and top, but with a dress the waist and top will be nicely filled while the hips seem a little empty - any advise?
