A Greater Appreciation

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

A Greater Appreciation

Post by Wendae »

Now that I have more fem time I have developed an appreciation for what women have to contend with when:
Using the restroom. It seems planning on what to wear is important. Case in point...panties,pantyhose,girdle,slip and maybe false nails.
Functioning with false nails. Just normal things.
Eating. Being careful of your make up.
Keep your hands away from your face so as not to mess up makeup.
Glasses or no glasses.
Cross your legs properly.
Get in your car properly.
How to carry a purse.
How to walk in 4" heels and drive a car.
AAAAGH!
Now I understand! But, damn I love it!
I believe I was a lesbian in my past life

Personally, I find most girls torture themselves far too much. Simply for those:
False nails are a pain, just varnish is fine if you wanna look pretty.
Smudgeproof lipstain and self-adjusting foundations are pretty foolproof, and one usually wouldn't mess up blush unless you really eat spaghetti like a vacuum cleaner, whatch your manners and one should be fine.
Glasses are good, just buy a womens' style that fits your face. Lenscrafters and other stores have this very nice 2-for-1 deal on most times. Contacts bring more attention to your face, and thats probably the most dead tell, so glasses are really win-win.
Crossing ones' legs isn't always appropriate, just remember to keep your knees together.
Being really tall for a subcompact, I do understand skirts are often a pin to enter cars, though.
Large purses are relatively foolproof, as you pretty much have to shoulder it all all times. Formal clamshell ones are a pain for the uninitiated, I kept forgetting mine everywhere.
4'' heels? At my height? 2'' tops, and even there. Nice flats and mary-janes are a boon to all of us.
I somehow found driving a car in heels to be easier than flip-flops.
It's all a matter of perspective, really.

I'm aware of those things. What I was saying is I didn't realize before what things had to be learned, practiced and planned. Personally I love false nails, heels, girdles, etc. and have mastered most of what I need to know. If I was going fem 24/7 I would probably be less enthusiastic and be a little more casual. But hey, I'm having fun, feeling great and loving the experiences. Experiences I could only have once or twice a year.

Oh yes, hundreds of little things most women learn growing up when they're young and expected to make silly mistakes. The good news is that a lot of them become second nature given enough repetitions. I haven't horribly smudged my mascara yet in the middle of the work day!

As a result I have built a bunch of new habits. I now touch up my lip gloss religiously after a meal. I make sure nothing is tucked awkwardly after using the restroom - skirts and dresses can easily wind up tucked into hose, and even pants can become bunched up around boot tops without proper care. I keep nail clippers and a file in my office desk to take care of snags. The list goes on and on, and I generally don't have to think about any of it anymore.

There are still plenty of lessons to learn, I'm sure. Things I absolutely must pack on a trip in case dinner one night turns out to be more formal than I expected, for one. Shoes appropriate for long walks that were similarly unplanned for another. Whew! I'm just thankful for the opportunity to learn a whole new set of life lessons after more than four decades into my life. The secret to staying young is not to get to set in your ways, after all!

I have to agree with everyone, I have ponder the idea of going full time for a long time but I did learn something.
My wife was in Germany a while back for two weeks so I gave it a try going full time 100%.
Tons of fun for a while then I started to feel the pressure of trying to look my very best everyday not easy even for a GG. Soon I found out it was a lot easyer to dress casual then to doll up everyday.
I dress almost everyday but have learn how to dress down more like a real GG and not go over the top with the makeup. But at the end of the day it's nice going back to boy mode. Normal?, what is normal?. :-k

Carol and Davita

That is a very good point. For me the hardest part is taking all the paint and feathers off before bed. I seldom have had the opportunity to get up and start all over again but I can appreciate the novelty would soon wear off.
