The Internet Knows....

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

The Internet Knows....

Post by Dolores(GG) »

I was on Facebook recently and they must be targeting my searches because one of the ads on the side had a big headline "Are you a crossdresser?" and pointed me to a CD store. It's kinda creepy...

Just found that amusing.

Hi, Dolores -

Facebook *always* targets your searches . . . even moreso if you have your account there as "always logged in" and/or you log in to FB via your email account.

Begining last September, Facebook became a no-no....I find it increasingly insipid and privacy-encroaching.....and throw in mean-spirited bordering on slanderous if someone disagrees with you on even the smallest issue of the day...A microcosm of our society, in other words.

I left F/B for that very reason. BUT--let us not think we are not tracked
by any site we go to. I just try to be as careful as I can and know
that someone will find me out sometime and I will deal with it.
I kind of mentally prepare my self the more I am here to just say
( Yes-I like to crossdress-You got a problem ?) hehehe

And everyone asks me why aren't you on Facebook? Seriously our lives are an open book as it today, the last thing I need is some non-governmental big brother tracking my browsing history!

So true Anna! The other thing is everyone wanting my e-mail and I mean stores, banks, the credit union, hell even my mortgage company!

I had to call on one of my credit cards and they told me they needed my mother's maiden name and when I asked why they got quite indignant and told me it was for my own security. I told them they didn't need to know my moter's maiden name and they insisted so I told them my mother's maiden name was "you don't need to know my mother's name!" The lady said that wouln't fit into the space alloted and I told her that was her problem and hung up. Needless to say I am going to cancel that credit card, that is if they don't cancel me first, but it just goes to show you how we are just a big number out there. It is time to stand up and not only demand our rights as transgurls but as human beings!

Diedre, they're all at it. Almost every site you visit want stupid irrelevant information!

The latest one over here is they stick a question in to ask if you have any transgender tendencies??? They can go shove it where the sun.....!

As I tell some of my friends, careful what you ask.... I dare some people to learn things about me :)

The government knows bunches about me. Facebook on the other hand only knows I have two non-facebook accounts and that was an accident because of how so many sites are sharing logons.

I don't mind people tracking me; I just hate them interrupting me for their convenience and not mine trying to sell me something.

You know what's so sad? Those poor impulse buyers suckered into buying something because the ad bounced up into their face.
