Just a general question
Is this the right place to talk about transition issues? I never see much discussion about topics like SRS and am thinking this is not he right board or even the right forum to discuss such topics. Any thought or suggestions... Thanks.

Re: Just a general question
Hi Alisa,
I personally see no problem with that topic at this part of the forum. I probably do not have much if any advice to give you as I'm not one who looks to transition to being female 100% of the time. I have found that many a trans-girl have YouTube pages and videos of their individual life and issues. Many are younger say under age 30 but still interesting life stories.
As a crossdresser who knows that at times I must fully dress enfemme, I appreciate the feminine feelings and love the way I look when dressed enfemme. I'd say that at times many if not most crossdressers questioned if they are trans as in feeling a desire to become fully the gender they feel. I figure that is a totally personal decision and one not taken lightly. When I was younger say under age 30 I pondered about transition, but for me it was more out of guilt and not really knowing who I was especially as Lacey. I did work through it and I knew for me that it was not a life changing thing in that when I had and have opportunity to crossdress a lot and say many days in a row etc, I find I am ok with stopping and just being a dude and much a regular male for a while after. That said to me, my duality of being ok with being a dude and my accepting that I need to be feminine at times as well is how I try to I put it all in balance.
Based on my understanding trans-girls feel a total need to live fully the gender they wish to be. As an outsider looking in I can appreciate that and find many of their life stories interesting especially when they share them on Youtube.
Best of luck to you and other trans-girls and hoping your lives bring you all what you want.

Check out Heather's Life and Here's Karin (100+ posts) - also Esme's Story - in The Day in the Life of a CD/TG section. Also there's the private The Journey Beyond section and individual or runs of posts.

Re: Just a general question
I think the "Transgender issues" forum is where transition has been discussed.

Re: Just a general question
Both Anthony and Anita's suggestions are excellent and sections where transition is discussed more in depth than anywhere else on the Haven. From the tone of your question I surmise you may be considering transition and wonder what it is like and the pros and cons. While there are many of us here that can tell you of our personal journey, the joys and the sorrows, the ups and downs, the goods and the bads, you have to understand that for everyone of us who have transitioned our stories are different. Yes there is some commonality to them there are distinctions for everyone of us. If you are seriously considering transition my suggestion is while talking to some who have walked that path you also need to consult with a qualified and licensed gender therapist.
I am not trying to discourage or encourage you Alisa but rather make sure you go in with your eyes open to your own personal situation.

Re: Just a general question
Transition issues? Just which of the bazillion issues are you referring to?
All joking aside there are many issues from family to work to emotions to general acceptance to whatever. Everything I have read here is correct but you have to realize everyone and every situation different. I participate in a group session conducted by my gender therapist. The attendance varies in number from week to week but generally there a dozen or so, mostly M2F but there is one F2M. Most are not in transition but 2 are just starting out or soon to and I am 10 plus months into mine. The issues and discussions vary from person to person. I wish you the best and I am sure if you have questions the girls here will be happy to help.

Anita and Anthony Simon are both correct, discussion of transition issues - SRS and the like - belong in either Transgender Issues or in The Journey Beyond sections of the forum. However, the A Day In The Life Of A CD/TG section is a form of online diary / journal only and is not for other topics or discussions.
