Do you crossdress at work?

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Do you crossdress at work?

Post by Kaytee (GG) »

My boyfriend has mentioned that he would like to see if he could get away with crossdressing at work. He doesn't really care much for his job, and he's actually struggling with panic attacks during his shifts. I suppose he's thinking that if he goes while dressed up that he might enjoy himself a little more and relax. I personally have never seen a crossdresser in a work place before (except when I was super young) and I was wondering if anyone here does it?

Hell no, I have just started to enjoy crossdressing and couldn't imagine trying it at work. How do you explain your "new look" to all of your co-workers who may have seen you for years as a man?

Not yet!

I suppose I really might as well though. Jeans and t-shirt? Should be easy enough to pull off without being too "obvious".

But, at work, I find I am free to express my femininity in other ways without fear of ridicule, harassment, violence... I do get the occasional razz, but it doesn't offend me, doesn't really bother me. And the comments I do get from time to time, I take as compliments!

Kaytee, I cross dress in a way that works for me at work. Most of what I do for work would be more underdressing with my outward layer being masculine or unisex masculine looking. It is wild what a person can wear that is feminine clothes and still present a male image to the world. Wearing pretty undies makes the day go easier. When someone rubs me the wrong way I can think of what I am wearing and smile. Also soft undies make the day more comfortable IMHO. It works for me but may not work for others.

I came out unofficially at work with most of the office and many others that I worked with in the other offices. Those days I wasn't going to work fully fem but would occasionally meet coworkers for after hours or I would take a day and do lunch.

My last year I officially came out and would go to the office fully fem any days I wanted. It was kind of hard on everyone trying to keep the pronouns straight so I gave them all a "get out of jail free." I was a fed and officially I could not be treated any differently for being transgender.

I have on occasions underdressed with panties, pantyhose, cami or full slip, but would never openly fully dress when at work.

I underdress regularly at work and have for years. (Including bra and moderate forms) I have noticed over time that there are more outwardly feminine items of clothing that you can wear and not be noticed. Case in point womens pants, both Jeans or slacks, shoes, blouses (carefully chosen) hairstyles, nail polish (clear or other) some makeup.

All of which can provide "Stress relief."

I have noticed several threads both here and on other sites, discussing people who have gone through HR and started crossdressing at work. It would seem to be a decision each person must make.

Hi Kaylee,
at my present job I keep my crossdressing rather subdued. I almost always wear women's styles, but they are not too overt or obvious. Though anyone paying attention could certainly figure it out, I'm not sure how many people pay that close attention and I'm pretty sure nobody cares much.

I was at a job previously that I wasn't too worried about losing, and there it was different. I wore mostly whatever I wanted to work. And although I didn't wear skirts or dresses to work, I certainly wore them on evenings and weekends and would often meet co-workers.

So I would recommend to your boyfriend to go ahead and do it. I don't know what sort of job he has, but he should at least pick an outfit that's appropriate for the work. And it should of course be something that he looks good in, so I suspect you will be picking the outfit for him. I'm sure he can "get away with it" although the definition of that might be different for each person. There may be a few smart mouths that say something, but not many employers would terminate a person for that. That all depends on where you are though, some places it would be illegal to discriminate against him, other places it's not.

Speaking from my own experience, I do feel more relaxed and enjoy myself more when wearing clothes I like. On the other hand, if I got too carried away and wore a dress and heels to work, I think I'd feel overdressed and out of place. Heels and a nice dress are great for going out in the evening, but I like something more casual at work. It all depends on where he works though, if he works at a bank, legal firm, or some other formal profession then a skirt suit and heels would be totally appropriate.

At my present job, we are doing our 5 year strategic planning and I'm on the Diversity and Inclusion team. Our focus has mostly been on ethnic and gender diversity so far. We seem to have the underlying assumption that if we do the "right things" then this will apply to all people and will encompass everyone that might feel different in some way. I'm hoping that's true, none of us really are experts on the subject but we try hard. My point is that quite a lot of firms these days recognize that employee satisfaction is important to a successful company, and feeling accepted and included at work is critical for employee satisfaction.

This being the case, a smart company would be completely accepting of any qualified, honest and hard working person regardless of what they look like. It is equally wrong to discriminate against person for dressing like a women as much as to discriminate against a person for being a woman. So if he feels that to be the most productive, it would be helpful for him to wear clothes that he likes, then it's in everyone's best interest for him to do that. And in the long term, he needs to work at a place where this is recognized and encouraged. If not this place, then with another company. Too many of us "older generation" have compromised that, because we needed to pay the bills. I'm not saying we make the wrong choices, we did what we had to do in those days. But those days need to be good and gone.

I underdresse in panties and pantyhose. Occasionally I'll wear a woman's polo shirt or top. No one has ever noticed or said anything.

My career was the difference between life and death for me in a sense...I could not imagine what would have happened had I done anything that endangered my marriage, children, home, family, friends, financial security...ditching it all as if diving into a blender to wind up who knows where...in a gutter somewhere eating rotten food scraps out of garbage cans and sleeping at the YMCA or under a bridge!

That would have been so absolutely catastrophic I would have been in terror...No absoultely not...no way was I going to risk a solid career and income, home and family over a desire to be my feminine self.

So! like others....I wore panties, shaved legs, brilliant red toenails under my clothes...modestly longer nails at times...and dressing when I was able to at home.

I wish it could have all been different...I was military so there were days when I so envied the women in their uniforms but our world has not progressed to that point...who knows someday ladies like myself will have the option that we very well should have but did not happen in my working lifetime and I am now retired. Ladies...I am as Caitlyn Jenner would say a different kind of lady which is a recognition that we are no matter what we do not women as they are but we are women as we are.

I underdress often, including bras in the winter (when they will be hidden by bulky sweaters). I'm often together with 2-3 gg's and our office is informal, and I just imagine that I'm girly, too. I've been included in discussions of boyfriends, clothes, and other girly things. Once they were having a little chat about boys and sex, and I came in. The girl who was speaking stopped, and another said,"Oh, don't worry, he's just another girl." I was on cloud nine for days!! So I guess the dress code isn't everything....

I wear bra ( with breast forms ) panties , hold up stocking & a full slip :-) when I'm at work, helps keep the stress levels down :-) plus I love to wiggle my shoulders, and feel the straps of my bra move, feels fantastic :-)
