This is an excellent topic with a great diversity of answers.

For myself when I hear about people who say that they always felt that they were in the wrong body I really can't imagine how that would feel. I get annoyed with my body especially when it gains weight or is clumsy, but I never felt it was wrong.

I've been very close to anumber of women over the years. So what is it that is different about them from me? I have to go partly with what Virginia said. They just don't seem to have quite the same aggression. And I have known a couple of very violent, scary women. Buty still there was something different.

They say that women are more attuned to others. That seems to be true. they seem more comfortable with emotions other than anger. Women get hurt, men get angry. Of course these are generalizations.

In 12 step programs I have heard a lot of people spill their guts over the years. In terms of our disease (addiction) we are all pretty much the same. But I find that I often identify more with the men even as I feel more comfortable with the women.

My ideal male friend has a lot of "feminine" characteristics-empathic, emotional, talkative. My ideal woman friend is a total tomboy.

But I guess the real answer is I have no idea, having nothing to compare my experience of myself with.
