Magic Shave. Ouch.

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Magic Shave. Ouch.

Post by Lorna »

I have been looking into alternatives to shaving for quite some time now. Sadly, I still cannot afford electrolysis or laser removal, at least not yet.

Today I was feeling quite brave & “experimental” so I went into my local drugstore and purchased a tube of Magic Shave – a depilatory face cream formulated for men.

Well... I am sad to report that my first experience with this product was not a very positive one. The tube cost me $5.00 and after having followed the directions exactly, it really did not do any better of a job than regular shaving. In fact it left a few stray hairs on my face along with that nasty smell, and a tender irritated face. Ow.

All in all I was NOT satisfied. Compared to this I would definitely stick to shaving, at least up until I can afford laser hair removal.

Has anyone here had any experiences with facial depilatory creams? What were your experiences? Let’s hear them, girls…

Hi Lorna,

Pewwwww. That stuff stinks. :run: It's kind of like Nair for the face. The first time I learned about that was from my Uncle when I was like who let out the rotten eggs?

I stuck with my electric razor until the end. That was my best bet to not get razor bumps and as many ingrown hairs.

I've found diplitories just aren't worth the effort. Seems most hairs are still right at the surface, even more than by shaving. Even burnt my upper lip, which took awhile to clear up.

Just a couple of points, one, manufactures do not put half the effort into creating men's "cosmetics as they do women's. They seem to know that men may try something new and if it doesn't work, they may not buy it again, but so what. They do know that women who try something new whether or not it works - they will tell 20 of their friends and depending on how good the product is or isn't they know they could very well lose that whole market, even the buy it, try it, toss it, crowd.
Second, I think it was Gracie who said that if anyone ever invents a permanent home hair removal product, -------------it will be a crossdresser!
Love,
Virginia
PS Thanks for the dare I say, "heads - up on the product! Saved me $5.00.
First star to the right, then straight on 'till mornin!

Hi Virginia,

I would have loved to have been the person that said that, but it wasn't me. :(
