Well Ladies,
Having dealt the fatal blow to my Mum a year ago, and since Carmen and I are only two months off our first anniversary, I thought it prudent, (with some courage from Carmen) to let my wonderful Mum-in-law know about me, and the lifestyle Carmen and I choose to live.
Well all went extremely well, and M-in-law rang me back the very next night to tell me to stop being silly and quit my fretting. She is dieing to meet Carmen's Juliann (new name for Hayley).
As I handed the phone over to Carmen so she and her Mum could talk, I reached for the tissues as the tears of joy began to flow. Even Carmen's younger brother said it was brave of me, to be so openly honest about this side of me. Wow!
When M-in-law said I didn't need to tell her, I explained that to lie to her is paramount to lieing to m,y own Mum and she deserved the truth as much as my Mum did. That got her crying.
Anyway after all the tears were dealt with the laughter flowed, a strong sense of relief washed over me and made me feel a wee dizzy to say the very least.
M-in-law is unaware but Carmen and I are off to see her this year. Can't wait to give that woman such a huge hug.
Thought you ladies would like some good news, is all.

Congratulatons girlfriend!!!!!! That is great! I am extremely jealous! Here I am in the throws of a divorce and my soon to be "ex's" father is one of those "all loving and accepting" preachers! Like, "God don't make no junk!"
Well here is Virginia and they all run screaming into the night!!!!!
You can also give your M-in-law another big hug from all your sisters here.
We all love her!!!!!!!!

Wow! That's absolutely fantastic that your MIL is so accepting of Juliann - what a wonderful sense of 'empowerment' - that feeling of complete love, acceptance, and friendship - you must be feeling right now!
Your MIL will enjoy getting to know Juliann, and do let us know how that get-together goes, too!!

I am glad to hear that, Juliann. Acceptance is such a prize, and any time any one of us wins it, we all do. You will have a lot more to say to your Mother-in-law, not having to hide this.

Hi, Julianne,
Just wanted to add my own voice to the others: congratulations! I had to sit by last night, and the night before and listen in silence while friends of my wife sounded off on gender issues. Oh, there is a lot of nastiness in the world...not to mention misinformation and prejudice, and just plain sloppy thinking. I found myself getting angrier and angrier...almost told them who I was, but frankly, they didn't deserve the truth about Karen. It wouldn't have made any difference. More to the point, it would have made my wife very uncomfortable, since this would have been very, very public. For myself, I care less and less about the people who don't accept, but she is not, and I do care about her.
That said, I am getting braver and braver as time goes by. I do admire your courage. Yes, your mother-in-law does deserve the truth, especially if you are close to her. How wonderful that she is accepting! Thank you so much for sharing your triumph. Hearing your story gives hope to us all.
