Ladies,
I have some time for Kira, beginning this Thursday, and I thought it would be cool to go grocery shopping dressed as the female me. Of course, I would go in the wee, wee hours of the night; but I was wondering if anyone has done this and what they would suggest?
It gets so frustrating to go out and only drive, because there are personal apprehensions about where I can go, not to mention the weaseling out just as I arrive somewhere. Kira needs to breathe, so I have to acknowledge her and you all know how this urge is so very strong. Also, there is a mall that is not frequented by many, and I was thinking that I would go about 45 minutes before closing to walk around and maybe make my first department store purchase dressed as Kira.
Forget telling the lie, "I am shopping for my wife", I want to go for the person that is going to wear this stuff. Some of you have the courage of a lion, and I feed off of that, so, I am going to work in my desire to attend a movie as Kira, as well. Actually, this e-mail is about more than just grocery shopping, but you all are the only people I know to present with these thoughts and questions. Okay, I am ready, let the remarks flow.

Grocery Shopping?
Crossdressing is lonely with no group of ladies to share this wonderful gift. Like GE, we bring good things to life!

Tough question with many answers Hon.
I've always felt like you Hon. But what works for others might not work for you. I'm 55 and have come out last summer and in the last few months have come out to everyone who knows me and comes to my home. My wife of 25 years left me but my kids still stay with me.
I've been grocery shopping dressed but that was at Price Chopper! I love it. The one thing you have to consider is all our unique situations. I'm lucky in that I live in a three family home where my print shop is on the first floor and me and the kids live on the top two floors. My Dad died last year and my secretary left so I work alone. I'm very lucky.
I'll relate one story to you Hon. A few years ago a person in a surrounding town was stopped by the police for a traffic violation. I don't know how it happened but it got in the newspaper that the man was dressed as a woman. He just happened to be The Superintendant of School. He lost his job and was run out of town on rails. If being recognized will hurt you financially or your family It's a very tough call. If you can go out without serious repercussions go for it Hon. It's feels fabulous. You might get a few looks and giggles but I just wave my painted nails and say "Hi"
It's not really the courage of a lion but just getting to the point in your life you just have to be who you are. At 55 I reached that point and there's no turning back. If you do go out hold your head up high and enjoy it. Don't worry what other say or think because it is your life not theirs! Dress as you like and go about your day like everyone else gets to do. Wish you the best Hon.Hugs

Hi Kira,
Well my experience has been this:
about 2 years ago, spending a few days "a broad
" I went to an area of outlet shops for the day, needing to get home before dinner. On the way home figured I really needed gasoline for the auto. Stopped in a gas station for some to get me home. In New Jersey. No Self-Serve. I don't think the attendant batted an eye.
Also needed some groceries for dinner. Stopped at a grocery store about 1/2 hour from home (stores at home would be out of my way!). Went in purchased items I needed, used self-checkout (I'm not that brave!) and went on my way.
Very good experience, but I don't get out much lately.
Go for it! Near closing at the mall should be good, just wathc out for movie theater areas (avoid packs of teens) and I'm sure the stockers at the grocery are used to all sorts coming in at the wee hours of the morning.

Hi Kira--
Here's a link to a post I did about this several years ago:
http://crossdressers-haven.com/forums/v ... =groceries
I continue to find grocery shopping one of the more enjoyable things that I do enfemme. I still like nighttime better than during the day, and late night is how I started--like, after midnight. As long as it's OK if you run into someone you know, then--go for it! Or just go thirty miles away, if need be.

That's true.
Grocery shopping is fun but it is like going to the motor vehicle. A cross section of humanity!
