my trip to the woodshed

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

my trip to the woodshed

Post by Absaroka »

Well maybe this will result in my going to the woodshed too. But whats the harm, I'm going there now to pick up an armload of kindling.....

Virginias thread got me thinking, as did a comment a GG friend of mine made a couple of months ago. Although for obvious reasons we talk a lot here about our hair, our nails, our wardrobe and appearance and of course shopping, there are bunch of topics women talk about a lot (at least the women I know) that we ignore. Maybe we should talk more about:

Chocolate

our diets

picking up after the men in our lives

the kids social lives

our figures

what are we eating today? what did we eat last night and when are we going out for lunch, breakfast, or dinner again?

the garden. flowers or vegetables, either one is okay.

and then back to chocolate. we can't pretend to be women and not talk about chocolate.

Looking forward to hearing about more topics.

Absaroka,
You are right. I and the women in my life really don't talk about clothes, makeup or shopping even half as much as those things are discussed here. We don't really talk about chocolate very much either but food in general is actually a pretty common topic. Here are some...

Snacks in the office - "Please! don't bring those cookies over here! If I don't see them I can resist them!"

Children / SOs / aging parents

Work Ethic

World Politics

Weather / predictions of draught in Northern California

Cost of Housing

Clothing really only comes up if one or the other is wearing something deserving of a compliment. Perhaps I run in a less than stereotypically feminine circle?

There are many things to talk about besides shopping, makeup, clothes, etc. I like to talk about food in general (especially chocolate) , politics, relationships, music, history, photography, science, astronomy, education, traveling, foreign languages, and hobbies.

I don't like to stereotype any of the above subjects as masculine or feminine. I see these as gender neutral topics.

FYI: I am a single CD from the San Francisco Bay Area named Maria, not to be confused with Maria A, who has Terri as her SO.

There is one difference GGs.

Post by Jeannie »

Hi ladies
You GGs have to understand that most of us have been in the the closet most of out lives. We had no one to share our thoughts with for many, many years and we have a bit of a pent up demand.
It's great fun in finding others like ourselves to blab with about things we like. We like womens clothing way more than you GGs. Most of you live in sweat pants, jeans and flats and pantyhose you hate. Not us. It's our nature.
I love to blab about politics, religion and all kinds of things but it always gets me trouble. Talking about a nice skirt , pantyhose color or great pair of heels never raises someones back. The GGs just say to themselves"Oh no. There they go again!"
My GGs friends say to me" I would never wear something like that!" I always say"That's because you don't have the b----!" Life's a carnival. Enjoy the ride! Hugs

Love
Jeannie

PS. And GGs. Glam up a bit more. It's great fun!

Jeannie..you maniac (said with respect)
You are right....while GGs learned makeup and other skills since forever..we have to catch up and not always easy. But
we do the best we can and sometimes make Bozo the Clown look good.
But I gathered the gist of this thread is.........CHOCOLATE!!!!! M&Ms don't stand a chance here....or KitKats. Love halloween, not to dress, but to have an excuse to buy CHOCOLATE!!!!! Sorry, sorry...umm what was the subject? BTW..my dentist loves me.

Jeannie,

Your right on the money when you said most of our lives we were in the closet. As far as I was concerned I was the only one that ever felt like this and if anyone else ever knew I would just simply die. To find out that there are places like this forum where I could actually talk to others just like me was one of the happiest moments of my life.
We do appreciate the care and work it takes to dress nicely and it ticks me off when I see a pretty GG dressed like a bag lady when she should be celebrating the fact that she was born a girl. We have to work really hard to try to do what they've known since they were kids.
Thank you all for being here. My world is so much bigger and brighter now that I've got so many sisters.
Love,

Hi Absaroka--
I think Virginia picked up enough kindling on her last trip to the 'shed--you don't have to go out there on this one.

It is funny how women and I can zero in on certain topics in a really compatible way, and on other topics there is a divide. I have learned how to talk "parenting," with women, but it isn't a natural topic for me at all. Not that men don't talk parenting, but it isn't as much of a focus for the ones I know.

If they want to talk relationships, though, I can get a lot of mileage out of that. Cooking is an OK topic, although my range of dishes is pretty small.

My teeth hurt just reading this thread, though. My dentist and I have come through many dark and stormy nights to get to where we are now; I had to kiss M&Ms good-bye a long time ago. Them, and stuff like caramel popcorn.

This was not meant to be an entirely serious thread.

But GGs like to talk about relationships. So we could just say that we are talking about our relationship with our clothing........
