I got mine pierced about 3 years ago, late 50's. Got very few negative comments, a few neutral ones, and many positive ones. When enhomme, I generally wear small studs of various kinds (silver balls, rhinestones, etc.) or small (1/2 inch hoops). When enfemme, I go with larger hoops (1 1/2-2 inches or more), dangles, etc.
My wife originally dared me to get them pierced, about a year before I did. She also was with me when I got them pierced at WalMart. As we walked out of the store she said that she hoped "this doesn't add fuel to the fire." She knows of my crossdressing, but doesn't approve. However, this year for Father's day she gave me a card of several small, multi-colored rhinestone studs. She said she couldn't find any masculine looking earrings and she hoped these would do. I assured her they would.
Go ahead and get your ears pierced, stick with small silver or gold studs when enhomme. You can pass off the why as a mid-life crisis or just because. Many men, whether or not they are cross dressers are wearing one or more pierced earrings.

I want to
Years ago, I had my left ear pierced,...before I married.
Now, I want to have my right ear pierced. The trouble is my wife will be furious. So, what I want to do is pierce it, but remove it when around the family. I am wondering how this can be done after it is newly pierced, without it closing up.

Hi, Melody -
While I've heard of others putting a clear nylon 'fishing line' or similar through the new piercing, in an attempt to keep it open, it's not safe in the long run.
Personally, I would just go ahead and get the other ear pierced; after all, it's your body. There are a lot of hetero men with both ears pierced; men having their ears pierced does not mean they're gay or otherwise. If she complains, just tell the wife you wanted to maintain balance in your life, and the new piercing is part of the plan.

If you want the new piercing to heal properly, without risk of infection or closing up, you'll need to keep that new 'stud' in place for at least 6-8 weeks.MelodyPerkins wrote:So, what I want to do is pierce it, but remove it when around the family. Going ahead with piercing
I'm afraid that will not go over well with my wife. I really do not have the sort of autonomy with respect to my body, if I want to maintain a peaceful and happy marriage.
As to leaving the stud in,....I may have to consider some creative solutions, such as trimming the stud to be flush with my earlobe. I have extensive access to sterile medical equipment. I may be able to come up with something to maintain the piercing, while keeping it invisible. I just need to give it some thought.

I got my ears pierced today, all they sport now are a silver stud in each ear. I told my wife I wanted it done and all she said was "Oh!" I was expecting fireworks!. My daughter said "Go for it!" I am meeting her in an hour or so for lunch I am waiting to see what she says. BTW there was a slight pinching sensation when the studs went in, nothing I could describe as pain so if that has been putting anyone off having it done, rest at ease.

Me, too.
Today I'm wearing red studs at the top, green in the middle and blue on the bottom.

peiced ears
Congratulations Susan, I trust that you will enjoy your newly acquired pieced ears, the main thing is to let them heal properly over the next few weeks and then have lots of fun on deciding on which earrings and/or studs you like. During this week I purchased earrings 20mm gold twist filled with silver (I wreck my last pair as they were gold, but hollow which made them very easy to distort, plus I dropped one & stood on it which did not improve it one bit ).
The next day I purchase a nice pair larger diamond studs @ $6.00 and a small pair of CZ studs, discounted 60% for $14.00.
Only problem is deciding which ones to wear - decisions, decisions

Keeping them cupped comfortably.

Today's the day? That's wonderful news! Now you just need to control the urge to pick up every cute pair of earrings you see, and come up with some organizational scheme that works for you. Do you have a jewelry box already? And have you figured out your first outing?
I remember the whole process very fondly myself, and I'm happy to relive it through you. Enjoy your new found avenue of expression!
