Re: Are womens clothes more uncomfortable than men's
Seems to me that "Dear Annie" entirely missed the whole point of the question, which was "Why do people make a big deal about it?"
Obviously she is ignorant of the entire issue, and went off on a tangent about comfort. I can't categorically say that all women clothes are more comfortable than all mens clothes. Sure, a cute sun dress is waaaayyyy more comfortable than a business suit. But getting buttoned up in a skirt suit with tights and heels is not the epitome of comfort either. I happen to find skirts in general more comfortable than pants in general, but that would be true even for mens skirts and womens pants.
But the REAL question, why do people make such a big deal about it? No idea. Too bad Dear Annie wasn't honest enough to say that.

Re: Are womens clothes more uncomfortable than men's
I grew up in the age of the Chicago area advice columnist Ann Landers. Turns out that her and twin sister Dear Abby, were abusive to their Mother. I have little regard for advise people. As Ralitsa pointed out 'Annie' answered a different question altogether.
In my travels day to day, I see people dressed inappropriate for the public. I'm talking guys with their pants half down and girls showing everything but the last vestige of imagination.
At gender variant and accepting places, men wearing female clothing should not draw attention.
Now, just my personal views and mean no disrespect, if a man wants to dress as a female, at least look like one. At some point, when you dress for the day, you have to decide what washroom you intend to use when needed. Choose a gender for presentation, doesn't that make things simple?
In that topic , I am absolutely against unisex, shared, potties.

Re: Are womens clothes more uncomfortable than men's
I honestly find that women have access to clothing that is extremely comfortable, but they usually go out of their way to wear impractically thin outfits which forces them to wear less underlayers.
Actually, yeah, womens' underclothes are comfortable as long as they're not meant to be seen. Lacy anything tends to be totally itchy.
And don't get me started on shoes. If women had half a brain they'd all be wearing flats or cute sneakers.

Azurielle,
Absolutely, the lacy things are itchy, they're made for show and not comfort. As a mature woman, I will not ever wear, and never worn, thongs or hip hugger style undies. Especially the thongs, they're disgusting to think about.
Which is less comfortable, men's dress shoes or a nice pair of 3" heels? And don't get me started on the tie thing for men. That has got to be more uncomfy than tall heels.

While some female clothing may be uncomfortable, it is so wonderful being dressed as a woman I don't notice any discomfort.

heels are not uncomfortable at all if you buy the nice once that fit properly. I've worn 3" heels all day with no problem at all, and then I've had flats that annoyed my feet after 10 minutes. Just don't buy the cheap chinese plastic junk from Payless, that's all. I won't even go in that store, and most department stores are not much better. (now you started me on a rant so you better run for cover) The US has totally junk shoes. We have so badly sold out to the idea of cheap everything, that it's practially impossible now to find any store that has quality. No wonder Walmart is rampant, and that's just a nasty disgusting place. If you buy $20 shoes from Walmart or Payless, well you can't expect much. I won't even buy shoes in the US if I can help it. The only civilized place to buy shoes is in Bulgaria, although the ones I'm wearing now were made in South Africa and they are incredibly comfortable. I love these shoes, they are very nice leather and only $150. But for the best quality, selection, and price you need to go to Sofia. The ironic thing about that, all the shoes are made in Plovdiv, but you can't buy any there, you can only buy them in Sofia. So don't even talk to me about shoes, the US doesn't have any.
And about ties, the thing about ties is that it isn't the tie that is uncomfortable but rather the shirt. Most mens shirts don't fit properly either, so they have to be all loose and baggy or they are uncomfortable. And then if you button the top button for a tie, you will choke to death. Also, this is true in the US, I think properly fitting mens shirts can be found only in London.

Re: Are womens clothes more uncomfortable than men's
Interesting, my dear wife and I had a discussion about this very topic the other day! I maintained I was much more comfortable wearing dresses and petticoats, foundations, etc. One issue I have is gynocomastia (forgive the spelling....) and have essentially had breasts since I was around 13 or so. Wearing a bra just 'lifts' a bit of weight off my chest so to speak.
Anyway, she agreed dresses and skirts CAN be a lot more comfortable. Wasn't willing to concede on the bra though. LOL. However, she pointed out comfort is measured in many ways. She asked me how long it takes me to get ready to go out when I'm in drab and I admitted, just a few minutes. And to get ready with a dress? Well....longer.
And then, she continued, there is the difficulty in actually 'doing things' while wearing a skirt or dress. You have to be a lot more cognizant of not bending over, you can't simply sit down, and ....etc. etc.
I am once again on a diet. One of the problems I have is, I love to go out with my wife! We go out WAY too much, but I just like being out with her and looking at her across a table. For the diet, to keep myself from just going out, I wear women's clothes 24-7. I don't pass (she says I would but....I am reluctant?) so going out is stopped. so....
Having been in female mode for nearly three weeks now, I have taken it to heart and am practicing what she preached. I have to admit that, although the feelings of the clothing are much more comfortable, the 'supporting role' of guarding movements, applying makeup, keeping the hair neat, etc. is much more demanding than simple 'boy mode' and....well it's just a little more difficult I guess.
Still, I'm afraid if that's the price I have to pay for the privilege of wearing dresses, I'm anxious to pay it.
I guess women have just always worn dresses and skirts, and of course, it's just....clothes. It's a shame really they can't understand really what it means to feel just how unique and, well...sensual? it can be to feel the difference and appreciate it's allure I guess.
Just one more opinion?

Re: Are womens clothes more uncomfortable than men's
I have come to the point of wearing what I want based on the feel, comfort level, and simple enjoyment I get from certain articles of clothing. I searched and tryed many different styles and types of panties before settling on what I wear now(highcut briefs). Why, I was looking for comfort to match the feel of nylon against my skin. I love skirts with stockings, or pantyhose, the leggings choices are based more on mood than anything else. Why, I love the comfort and feel I get from skirts, as well as something tightly wrapped around my legs! Do I like dresses, not as much, because I prefer a loose guy type of t-shirt over top of a cami. Again, why a cami, because of the feel of nylon against my skin. I love womens shoes...but to me most are to uncomfortable to wear regularly. Who doesn't like heels and hose together, but heels kill my feet after about an hour. Call me lazy, but makeup is a hassle, and a wig hot on the head, so I rarely wear them. Lastly do I wear a bra, they can be uncomfortable at times, yet the feel of something around the chest area has an appeal that brings more of an emotional comfort, than any physical comfort. It does help having some natural cup fill to go into the bra, one could call that the advantage of what happens as one grows older and has a couple of extras lbs.. If we didn't like what we are doing...then we would stop, DAH, kind of stating the obvious.
Of all of the womens clothing I wear, my wife has only given me a difficult time about two items. The first being a bra, she hates wearing a bra and it is to her the most feminine of all clothing items. Yet she accepts me for wearing bras. The other item is pantyhose, and again this is something that she can't stand wearing. She thinks I'm nuts for wearing both, but that is my choice, and she has chosen to love and accept this part of me.

So I concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they can. People should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of there labor, for these are gifts from God.

I started crossdressing seriously when I realized that panties were so much more comfortable than men's underwear. Then I came to enjoy the hug my bra gives me. And the feel my thighs rubbing together with pantyhose/stockings on is so nice! And let's not forget to mention how great it feels to wear a silk blouse, feel the wind in my skirt, or a necklace.

Women's clothes are all about fit, much more so then mens. And, I much prefer the freedom with my legs a skirt gives than pants anyday!

Re: Are womens clothes more uncomfortable than men's
Well I took a decision a few months back that I was over tight restricting under-garments which were definitely uncomfortable. I'm on a diet to get my waist back by other means and I can't wait when I get home to slip out of trousers and into something way more comfortable, a skirt or a dress.
