I totally agree the term 'practical femininity' sounds boring. Why in the world? Sigh.
But, I do have to say that after 7 days a week, once in a while, it's nice to just slip on a pair of slacks and 'lounge' a bit. You know, let the legs fly open, slouch on the couch.
I've actually been stuck in dresses for a few weeks last year, and believe me, the first week was GREAT! The second was ok, but by the third, somehow it wasn't as.....wonderful? I know that sounds stupid. But it was true.
Fortunately, I get to do that again this year. We'll see how long I can actually go before I give in and agree with my wife that it's not all fun. But until then.....I'm really looking forward to it again!
And no...no fishnets, stilletto heels, slut looks, etc. I'm strickly shirtdresses, A-line skirts, etc. I do love petticoats though....giggle

Found this thread during one of my infrequent visits to the 'net.
Nice one CJ!
When I was a young adult, my crossdressing was confined to mainly lingerie, because that was the easiest stuff to find and try on ... and remove rather quickly or cover up if needed.
It wasn't until I got married that I really started trying on regular women's clothing with any frequency.
I was still limited by what I could fit into without ripping the seams and destroying something of my wife's. How to explain THAT!
Finally, on this current journey, so far lasting 2-3 years, I have the opportunity to buy my own stuff.
Being 6'2" and 208lbs with size 13-14 EE feet, I find my apparel choices limited.
Even so, I have never taken to dressing 'flashy' or 'club' style.
I find that most of the shoes I could fit into are the spike heeled torture devices that would add another 3 or more inches to my height!
So, I find myself dressing feminine in what would equate to what I wear when dressing masculine.
Basically the look I like for myself.
Right now, I'm wearing my work jeans, a tanktop, bra and forms.
This is what is comfortable for me right now.
Two days ago, I was wearing a polka-dot dress, the usual undergarments, necklace, clip-on earings (no piercings yet), and makeup.
I felt absolutely perfect in all that while I toiled about the house.
I guess I don't worry about whether my look is 'practical' or 'extremely fem'.
If you saw my bearded face, you would probably guess that I don't worry about my looks at all!
I find myself caught between two worlds at this time... crossdressing (what I always felt was the attempt to 'look' like a woman), and transgender/sexual(ism) (what I believe is the understanding that I am more 'female' than I used to acknowledge).
-did that make any sense to anyone????
-
Anyway...
I've come to the point in my life that I can wear my polka-dot dress and accoutrements, while fully bearded, and not see myself as a 'FREAK' anymore.
I can also dress with 'practical femininity' (if I'm visualising that correctly) and still feel as feminine as when I 'dress-to-the-nines!'.
I certainly admire any of you who have found your style and can dress with confidence and elegance!
So... ENJOY your 'extreme' styles or your 'practical' ones, because GG's obviously do the same!
I see GG's dressed like an ironworker, and those who dress 'outlandishly' or as we might say back in the redneck areas of Texas - like a lady who works on her back!
