Are there any thin girls out there? How do you eat?

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

I am very grateful for your advice both of you. Will read the article. It is a lifestyle change - and I am not kidding about being an addict because I will continue eating long after I should be full - stress, comfort, just because. That must change If I am to make this diet my last by transitioning to a new lifestyle.

It can be a long uphill struggle, but slow and steady changes will have lasting effects, whereas quick fixes will only last a short time. It can be very dispiriting how long it can take, but be encouraged by every bit of loss, and remember that slow and steady is the way that lasts.

My wife is going through this at the moment she has somewhere around 100 lbs to lose, and is finding it very hard, she can't lose the weight without exercise, but can't exercise until some of the weight has gone. Then she gets depressed and wants to eat to cheer herself up, it's a very difficult cycle to break, especially when you are looking at a long term change with no quick fix

Read the article Paula, I seem to be able to lose the old way over 3-4 months. Have done this 3-4 times over the past twenty years, each time I learn. I was able to maintain for a long time once it took two years to gain it all back. Hopefully I have learned this lifestyle change must be permanent and make this my last diet.

One of the things I've learned is that the weight on the scale is not the whole story. Muhammed Ali for example in his prime weighed about 220 and was about 6-2 I think, to use an extreme example. All the weight charts said he was overweight but that was not the case.

You can be rail thin and out of shape and have far too much body fat. In fact the trouble with diet by itself is that the body tends to lose muscle and keep the fat. This is why we are told we need diet and exercise. It doesn't have to be extreme, but going for a walk every day of a couple of miles and some very mild strength exercises and stretching will make losing weight a far more beneficial thing in terms of both health and weight.

181.5 today (183.07 per 7 day moving average). Some muscle loss may be a way to decrease the size of my biceps, I am pretty active with housework as my wife is not able, and I also take care of her. I do yard work for several days every few weeks. Walk the dog, and jog on occasion as I see many women doing that, and at one time I was required to run inorder to keep my job. It is also important for health so I do intend to do so. I am doing everything I can to stay and feel young and to turn back the clock to squeeze out a few more years before I hit the big 60 in about 6 years, and then it will become the new 50's for me - ha!

I do have a problem though - I am having to use a safety pin to keep my skirts from falling off!

I have also been using grecian formula, not sure if women's hair color would work for me, or if I should do Just for Men touch of grey (have not been able to find it yet) as I used it in the past and at my age I probably don't want to banish all of the grey because it would not look right at age 54.

Anne, I have very little gray at 65. If I had no gray at 70 it wouldn't hurt my feelings as the gray tends to make you look older and I enjoy looking as youg as I can get away with.

I don't mean I want to pass as a teenager, but I don't mind being told that I look in my 40's or 50's and it doesn't bother me a bit to pull an ID to prove I am old enough for senior discounts.

I say rejoice that you have hair and don't worry if the colour is out of a bottle, most of us have to rely on hair out of a box! Personally I like to have a wig close to my natural colour (grey) I feel more comfortable with my reflection that way, it doesn't necessarily mean that I look better, I just think I do.

Now why is it when a woman dies her hair she is "looking after herself, taking some pride" but when a man does he's "vane"? more double standards

I love the way this thread had morphed from being thin to having hair.

Does that say something about us?

To get this back on track - I am 5' 10" tall and 145 lbs. My weight has not altered in 35 years. Yes I AM lucky.

You all know how much I hate to disagree with anyone, but I doubt you are just lucky Susan, I suspect you have a balanced diet and an active lifestyle. Of course I may be wrong, afterall there has to be a first time :P

145 pounds at 5'10" wow! you must have a small frame? Not sure how stone works thinking about the UK. All of my life I have been binge eating, grazing, eating for comfort, stress eating, because I enjoy food. I remember as a teen eating whole bags of Chips A-Hoy! cookies, or half a package, Whole Pizzas - of course I had to stop all of this in my twenties. I have never been over 200 pounds until I was in my 30's, and never more than 205 because alarm bells went off in my head. Most of the time I fought to keep my weight in the mid 190's. As an RN I was able to figure out - the Nutritionist's way of losing weight (balanced diet, subtracting 250 or 500 calories per day) and it works amazingly well. My work now is to make this my last "diet" because we should not diet at all of course - we need to alter our lifestyle and this is where the UK BBC article and Dietitians in the US agree. I believe it is possible.

I am so thrilled that I am searching for size 34 pants, that ALL of my clothing fits now, I may even make it into size 32's. I feel so much better and when I jog I am light on my feet.

Hair is a personal choice. I receive complements on my hair when it is gray "You have such beautiful hair". to myself I say right! It is like a fake complement and when I look in the mirror I feel old because old age is of course what I associate with grey hair. I am so happy the grecian formula has mostly restored my original hair color (no lead poisoning yet). I guess I am trying to extend youth a little longer while I can - which is looking and feeling better, and being fit and healthy. I am achieving this!

14 pounds in one stone, 140 lb = 10 stone; 168 = 12 stone; 200 lb = 14 stone 4 lb

Just to make it more coinfusing 8 stone in one hundredweight (cwt) 20 cwt in one ton, so if you get up to 224 lbs (16 stone) that is 2 cwt. or one tenth of a ton!

My real hair is part gray and part brown. The one wig I have is long and all gray. But mostly I just use my own hair.

Anne like you I ate all I wanted when I was younger. Then in my 30's that didn't work any more. Too bad.

Paula

I did two sports at National level when I was younger (I have the same body proportions as Michael Phelps - on a smaller scale) - I am paying the price now due to the damage I did back then.

I only eat one meal a day - I have a sedentary job which means I do not expend much energy doing it. I try and walk around 3 miles a day, not always successfully.

I am lucky in that I have body hair that is very like a GG. No hairy backs and chests for me. I will use the money I save on getting that part of my anatomy defurred on buying something pretty to wear. I have something gorgeous for my next time out. I will post the pic here to show you all.

I do not post to gloat. I love our diversity and I envy more than a few girls here some of there features. C'est la vie. We do what we can with what we have.

My best wishes to all of you

Hi to all, I made a commitment and want to inspire others that it is possible to lose weight even in middle age when you fear your metabolism has slowed down.

I am now in the 170's at 178.5 this morning (the tanito function agreed with this) and two pounds away from my hard goal of 176, but will then aim at 173 (my ideal weight I believe?) will then try for 168 as rock bottom, and If I am skin and bones I will head back to 173.

thanks for demystifying Stone, I am an anglophile by heritage I believe we may go back to Warwick, or Sheffield?? with perhaps some lowland scot in there somewhere. So It is interesting to me at least.

I have found grecian formula works! My hair is the same color it was when I was younger - I like looking at myself in the mirror now. Who says we have to let ourselves go and give up when we can look and feel so much better, and jogging daily is giving me more energy I am feeling better as well. Also using a little moisturizer as women know the value of caring for your skin.

Susan, you were part of my inspiration for losing weight, in your profile photo you are so thin and look so pretty it is something to shoot for, though all we can really do is make the most of what we have. A couple Naprosyn in the morning is helpful on occasion I find - age is age afterall there really is no fountain of youth.

I'm not sure there is an "ideal weight" Most folks have a range of 10 lbs or so and if they are in that range things are fine.

I also tend to fluctuate by 2 to 4 lbs on a daily basis. I think this has mostly to do with water. Like on a hot sweaty day I loose a couple of lbs. If I go to the bathroom I can loose a couple of lbs just by taking a s..... If I eat salty foods I'll gain a couple of lbs for a day or two.

Trying for a rail thin look can make for a lot of obsessive feelings and ideas. A lot of the craziness anorexics have is caused in part by their bodies reaction to not eating enough.
