Sometimes, It does pay to complain

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Sometimes, It does pay to complain

Post by Kandis »

Okay, so about two weeks or so ago, I wrote a letter to the Hanes Corporation. You see, I had bought some of their panties and after one washing the gusset had started seperating from the front panel on some of the pairs. Now, these were relatively brand new panties, and I was very dissatisfied by this fact that they were not holding up. So, I wrote a letter of complaint, and mailed it out through the post office.

Today, I receive a letter from "Consumer Relations", and in this letter was not only an apology from them for the problems I have had with this product, but two (2) coupons for a free package each of Hanes underwear. Like the title says, I guess sometimes it does pay to complain.

Here is a little known item that is Wal-Mart policy. If you buy an clothing item and they make a mistake on ring it up, "Say it is on sale for $3.00 and they ring it up at $6.00", then they have to give you a $3.00 discount per item. This happen to my sister. She bought three tops on sale for $3.00 each. The register rang them up as $7.99 each. She protested and asked for the manager. He came over, corrected the sale and gave her the $3.00 discount per item. She ended up walking out with the three tops for zero cash. The checkout person will be unaware of this, so ask for the manager. he/she will be aware.

I agree 100% Kandis! I have sent more than one legitimate complaint to a company via their website and have always received at least an apology but usually I have recieved a refund for the shoddy merchandise or in some cases a coupon for a savings next time I shop there. Yours is far better then I have ever received. I do caution all of you, do not take this as a way to attempt to cheat the manufacturers or stores, be realistic in your compalints and desires gurls!

Kandis, you're 100% right!!!! The squeeky wheel gets the oil, if you don't complain....well!!!! AT&T upped me to their fastest DSL speed saying it wouldn't cost me more...it did. So I called to complain and they are giving me $20/mo off my bill for a year.....also said to call back then for (secret) deals  Got brave and called Directv...got $15/mo off. Geeesh, thats $35/mo for shopping just by making phone calls!!!!! Oh...and let me mention Hunter (ceiling) fans.....I had one go bad after 6 years...never registered it or anything....just a capacitor went bad. They didn't have that part anymore, so sent me a new $150 fan!!!!!!! Now thats customer service and it works 'cause I'll recommend them to anyone. So, speak up, ladies
hugs all

I just had another great experience today with Customer Service. I had to purchase a new Tuxedo for my male self as there are some events and such that require him to be dressed formal. Well, I walked into SUIT MART here in Houston Texas, and they had tuxedos priced at $69.99 or $99.99, well I checked out one of the $69.99 and as I'm trying on the jacket, the sales lady comes over. "That's too small for you need a 46", and takes me over to find a 46 Regular. The jacket fits PERFECTLY and then I try on the pants. When I come out I am wearing them and she says "Can you pick them up tomorrow"? I tell her that I need them for tomorrow night, and she says "I will check and see if they can be done today". Sure enough, they altered them to fit me WHILE I WAITED. All in all, a great shopping experience, even if it was for male clothing... Oh, did I mention that I got the Tuxedo, and a new shirt to go with it AND had it altered for less than $100.00 before taxes?

JoAnn,

Believe it or not but, up here, this is law. It's part of consumer protection legislation. The law states that, if an item rings up higher on the cash register than its tagged price, the consumer gets the item for free if the price is under $10 or gets a $10 discount off the price if the item is more than $10. As an example, last year I bought Peter Jackson's King Kong Production Diaries Boxed DVD Set at a downtown Future Shop store. I knew that, over the holiday season, the set had gone on sale (from $45 to $15) but, sadly, I'd missed the opportunity to buy it then. Well, some time in March, I found a copy of the set still stickered at $15 (while the rest had gone back up to $45). I brought it to the cash. They rang it up. The register said $45; the cashier corrected the price to reflect the tag ($15); as soon as she made the correction, the register automatically deducted the $10 (as per the law). Result: I got the set for $5. And I didn't feel bad about that, considering ever time I spent over $25 for a DVD that just wasn't worth the box it came in.

I agree with Kandis. It pays to complain. Still, sometimes you don't even need to. The "complaint" is done for you. Another thing: even writing to a company to show it you're interested in its services or products will often get you rebate coupons or even samples. Worth it.

Love,
CJ
