Waxing, Shaving or Nair

I just finished shaving my legs,nicks- ouch!, such a pain and it takes so long. The problem with Nair is that it smells so bad and can burn. I am thinking about going for waxing next time. Which one do you girls prefer?

I am like Carol Ann. Shaving works for me, but a couple of pointer. I use the Gillette 5-blade and either plenty of lather or while I am soaking in a tub with Calgon and bubble bath (this girl loves to pamper herself-- ain't it great!?) Anyway as Carol Ann said, practice and always use a fresh set of blades. I have also used Veet and it works fairly well. I use the 6 Minute type, you put it on legs, arms let it stand for some 6 minutes, get in the shower and using the sponge that comes with it gently rub it off in the shower.

Of course lasers and other permanent methods work well also!

I like veet because it lasts longer than shaving, but shaving works just fine for me too.

I find waxing too painful when I get close to the joints (knees and upper thighs = ouch)

Hi CherryLynn,

I shave. Waxing was brutally painful and did not really last longer than shaving and hair removers miss so much I end up having to shave anyway, plus it smells so bad. I have however found that shaving everyday is easy and does not take much time. It's when I let it go that it takes a long time.
I am pretty sure that because of testosterone my hair grows much faster than most GG's. For instance, I have to pluck my eyebrows about every 3 days.

Love always,
Elizabeth

I use a combination of Veet and shaving. Veet seems to be formulated better than Nair - Nair can irritate you. Veet - even the 3 minute variety - doesn't irritate me. But it does not get the stubble down close to the skin - so a shave afterwards does the job.

How do you all deal with the grain of the hair? It seems to me that the hair on the back of my legs has a different "grain" to it - like it is pointing up the leg rather than down.

I am up to shaving daily now and once you get to that point it seems to go easier.

Shave...I use those Shick Intuition blades & handle, they work well and you don't have to fiddle with gel/creme/etc, just get the skin wet and go to town on it.

I use the Braun Silk-Epil epilator to yank the hairs out. It hurts a bit the first time, but after that and with regular use, it works fine and painlessly for me. No nicks, no cuts, no errors with leaving a depilatory on too long. And the results last for several weeks

Of course I cheat, since I am on HRT and that has greatly reduced the shaft size and stiffness of the hairs pretty much everywhere!!

I use Nair for Sensative skin and finds that it works very well for me

Other than a few stray hairs, i can get close to a month before i have to do i again, and the more i use it the lesser they grow

Shave

I have a Venus razor and it does for me.

Then again I have been shaving for more than three decades - not felt the need to slap chemicals on my skin.

FYI the average woman absorbs 1kg (2.2lbs) of chemicals a year just applying make up.

It makes you think.

I have used VEET with mixed success. The VEET in shower stuff works best for me, and funny enough, has the least offensive smell. The best results come from shaving. I have found that shaving with a new razor or new blade, in a nice warm bath gives me the smoothest results.

Repeating the shaving every second day, at least, meant very little to remove and thus a quick turnaround time in the bathroom.

Susan I will try the Venus razor, have been using Schick lady razors to date.

Hi CherryLynn,
I prefer to shave, using the 5 blade system after taking a hot shower.

I use the Braun on my chest and my wife uses it on her legs and under arms. I get my back waxed a few times a year.

I found this works great:Veet hair lightening cream for face arms or legs.
I first used the product on my dark and hairy arms, smells like Veet, wait ten mins and then wash off in shower. Hey presto light blond soft hairs that then I trimed with a hair trimmer, now I have soft light and natural arm hair and no shaving. I still use the 5 blade on the legs, stockings feel so good with smooth legs :)
