Hi ladies ,

From time to time something will catch our eye and we just have to have it , I refer to womens fasion , you can be walking down the street minding your own bussiness then suddenly WOW! , your overcome by a pretty lady wearing the most beautiful outfit.
You feel that you would like to approach the lady and enquire as to where she purchased the outfit that she's wearing , but it would be too embarrasing , so you just walk on by.
In common practice I will keep a mental image of the outfit in my head and by browsing around various fasion shops you can generally find the item (or something very close to it) after you put in the time and effort.

This theory works fine for modern fasions but consider seeing an outfit that you want that is over 40 years old , where would I go ?? , who do I ask ?? , is there anything around today ?? .
Well these are the very questions I've been meaning to ask but I wouldn't know where to start.

This started arround 8 months back when I viewed a 1967 music clip on Youtube , the old black & white video sees Marcie Jones and her friends singing in outfits that could best be described as silvery spaceadelic short dresses.
Perhaps if someone could at least identify the material that these dresses were made of , that may give me a start.

I know exactly what you mean about seeing someone in an outfit that you adore. It would take a lot of "de-programming" to learn to approach a total stranger and ask her about her clothing. I've done when I'm already engaged in a conversation, but not otherwise. I'm sure you'd got a wide range of different reactions!

As for the dresses in the video you linked to? I suspect they'd be easy enough to recreate given the right material. It looked to me like something covered in sequins to me but you may get a more informed guess from someone else before long.

Thanks Connie ,

I just looked up "lame" on google image search and I think your spot on , I guess I should take a trip to "Spotlight" or "Lincraft" and have a browse through their materials.
I may be able to find a dress shop that specializes in this material by looking through the yellow pages phone book or even ebay , anyway thanks for the identification Connie , I now have a starting point.

:-k Hmm!!!! , if all else fails I could take a trip out to Global Studios and see if the wardrobe dep't still has those genuine dresses , they may be still on the back rack or packed away in moth balls
