Tyra Banks

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Tyra Banks

Post by Willie W »

Did anyone catch the Tyra Banks Show yesterday? Couples were admitting their fantasies. One woman said she wanted to have her husband dressed in panties and a dress. He agreed to try it. I'd love to here how it went for them.

I have seen several of her shows dealing with "us." All were, can I say, a bit shallow, but given the time constraints and how she has to "hold an audience" I can understand. Basically, what I also saw was when the camera would pan the audience most were very attentive. The times she had the shows, I sent her Emails about how the TG community appreciated how she handled to topic.

I hate to see her leaving as she is about the only show that would display us in a positive light.

On Jan 27, 2010 show the Trans Youth Family Allies organization will be on her show. I plan to at least record it, so I can watch it.

[TGV_Advocacy] Tyra Banks show on Transgender Children Tomorrow
...
From:

On Wednesday afternoon January 27th (tomorrow) on the CW channel, the Tyra Banks Show will air an episode titled: "We 7 & 8 and We Know We Are Transgender. " This will be a show well worth watching for anyone who is interested in learning more about transgender children. http://tyrashow.warnerbros.com/

One of the featured guests will be Kim Pearson, co-founder of Trans Youth Family Allies (TYFA). "TYFA empowers children and families by partnering with educators, service providers and communities, to develop supportive environments in which gender may be expressed and respected. We envision a society free of suicide and violence in which ALL children are respected and celebrated."

Kim is a mother of a trans-male child, who started this organization due to the near total lack of any resources, informati on or support available to help her family cope this situation. She has become a tireless worker and advocate for families with trans-children. She spends much of her time traveling across the country to reach out to these families. She also is an active member in PFLAG.

I highly recomend that you watch or record this show.

Also, this week Kim is currently in New York city for the taping of an up coming episode of the Doctor Oz Show which will be also dealing with the topic of transgender children. This show will be shown some time in March. I will post message with details as to when the show will air once they become available.

During the past year, I've had the privilege of becoming acquainted with Kim and her work through my friends Jayna and Mila Pavlin of the Trans-Ponder Internet Radio Show Podcast and have chatted with her several times on the Internet. I've come to know Kim as the warm and caring person she is and who all the hard work that she does as an unpaid volunteer.
